Many have of us have been blessed with meeting Dr. Sarita Shrestha here at the Center throughout the years.
We have supported her and the efforts to bring natural healing, ayurveda, and health to rural #Nepal
Here in #Encinitas
she has guided many of us on the path of health and compassion.
She was in California when the quake hit. She went back to Nepal as soon as possible. Carla Levy hosted Sarita when she was here and sent this post to share with you all.
We all have fear of these natural disasters on deep levels. Reaching out , in aid, in time of need helps others and our path.
May all our fellow beings in Nepal, the Mother land of many sacred places be well.
Dear Friends of Sarita Shrestha, MD Ayurveda
On behalf of Dr. Shrestha, I want to first thank everyone for the immense love and support expressed for her personally, and for her family, beloved ancient city and country, as the Nepalese population now faces the deep and painful challenges in their recovery from such a devastating earthquake.
Sarita's heart is full of both grief for the loss and suffering taking place, and gratitude for the support being expressed. A week prior to her arrival at MMC last Wednesday (2 days before the quake), she was in rural villages giving health care to 300 villagers a day, in the very area at the epicenter of the 7.8 quake. You cannot imagine how this feels for her to know these villages have been completely destroyed. Her biggest clinic in the ancient city of Bhaktapur is miraculously still standing. We do not know yet about her village clinic in Sipadole.
We are calling upon your support to help her people in this time of severe need. She has generously served the Ayurvedic community and hundreds, if not thousands, of clients in the US and in California especially, for the past 15 years - with clinical expertise, deep compassion, commitment and humility.
The Growing Edge is a 501(C)3 California non-profit corporation I founded in 1993. We have been supporting Dr. Shrestha's work since 2000. One hundred percent of the funds we raise each year during her programs in the US go directly to The Devi Ma Kunja, her NGO in Nepal. These funds have been supporting her clinics in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur, the development of a small rural out- patient hospital in Sipadole, and regular "health camps" in rural villages.
Dr. Sarita will be returning to Kathmandu this coming Wed...the earliest we could get a flight.
In addition, we are currently cancelling all the programs in the US that she was scheduled to offer...which means she is losing her primary support for the year's expenses in her clinics!
AND NOW THE NEED IS SO MUCH GREATER!!
If you are able, please be generous. The Growing Edge is raising funds to help her directly support those in need - specifically with medicines, food and temporary shelters. It is raining. Swine flu and cholera are already breaking out.
All donations are fully tax deductible and 100% will be directly passed on to the Devi Ma Kunja and go directly to the people..
Dr. Shrestha will personally and directly oversee all monies we raise and will determine how best it can be utilized, based on how things actually are on the ground and in the villages.
We can use other kinds of help too!
Please pass on this information to your friends and colleagues, and ask them to help.
Donation checks must be made out to The Growing Edge and are fully tax deductible with a receipt.
