Apparently there's a problem with the use of GameMaker surfaces to draw walls in v1.0.3 for some users that I can't personally reproduce. This is being looked into.

If anybody else is also having this problem, please let me know!

Did some minor page updating to reflect Google+'s new look (e.g. changed the profile banner).

Take note: MyKaryotes Abiogenesis v1.0.3 will be the last GameMaker Lite-compatible release of MyKaryotes. v1.0.4 and onwards will require the use of GameMaker Standard functions, though it will remain as open-source as I can make it.

This is being done to help simplify the source code (i.e. let me remove all the ugly hacks and crusty old compatibility code needed to be compilable from Lite), and also because hopefully when the #pygame based v1.5 is released it will provide a way for people to continue compiling the latest version from source if they desire without first having to pay for a Standard license. IMO making people have to pay for the dev tools needed to tinker with my free software is just silly.

v1.0.4 won't be released as a result until Archean has its first alpha release, though I still don't know when that will be (I haven't had much time to hack on it lately).

Archean now has a background (non-animated) and the new cell look!

A tip to anyone who wants to get started early making custom backgrounds: you'll probably want an opaque 960x544 PNG.

Updated to the new cell look that will be used in MyKaryotes Archean! At any rate, the profile icon should look less pixelated now (turns out Google+ displays profile pictures at 200x200 resolution).

Found a workaround for the cell movement problem in MyKaryotes Archean. #pygame Rect objects can only move in integer amounts...but who's to say that is the only way you can calculate position by?

The images onscreen still move only in integer amounts, but at least friction behaves such that cells don't slightly change direction as they slow down anymore.
