Since it's going to be the best year to see the Northern Lights (yes, we're pretty excited about that!) here a little snippet to tantalize the eyes...
Watch nature's own theatre unfold above you as the most spectacular light show takes centre stage: The northern lights with you in the front row.

I feel compelled to see the world through the ocean. It must be my free-spirited ways, and the magnetism of the heavens and oceans merging at that elusive point of wonder.

Ever since I was a child learning about the Panama Canal I have wanted to cruise through it. I joined the US Navy in 1985 (mind you, I NEVER wanted on a ship then), and a few years later was married to a sailor. He was stationed on an aircraft carrier that went through The Canal. I was so jealous, and the thought of that crossing has stayed with me ever since.

I recently read a blog post on the five most popular cruises people take, and while I agreed with three of them I had to disagree with a hard list. April 2011 I was fortunate enough to go on a 26-night +Princess Cruises Tahiti to Ft Lauderdale wonder of a cruise. So far, this has been the cruise of a lifetime! It, obviously, went through the Panama Canal. I was on the Royal Princess, which is a small ship, and it amazed me how little space there was on both sides of the ship for the transit. I digress. Anyway, since I went through The Canal the #1 cruise on my bucket has been fulfilled. Something had to replace it, and that something is a transatlantic on another small ship.

Here is my list of the top 5 cruises:

1. Transatlantic on small ship
2. Amazon River
3. Antarctic
4. Norwegian Fjords on +Hurtigruten USA
5. Galapagos on +Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic

I have in mind at least 3 more I can add to the list to replace the transatlantic upon my return home.

Eleven days from now I will be on my way to Rome, Italy for my 19-night Renaissance Passage from Rome to Ft Lauderdale on the Pacific Princess. Strike one more off my list! Which one will replace it?

It's almost officially Dark Season in Nordnorge (Northern Norway), making it constantly twilight and the perfect time to be looking out for the Northern Lights!

Another week begins... with Monday comes the need for a mental vacation, so get away for a few with things to do in Wintery Norway!
Ski resorts are many and snow conditions usually excellent. Try dog sledging or drive your own snowmobile. And go hunting for the northern lights.
