The other person I single out for special thanks in The Sundered Land is +Joshua A.C. Newman. Here's why!

Joshua and I were talking about roleplaying game design, as we do, arguing about the "roleplaying is a conversation" model of Apocalypse World. He provoked me into committing to the following:

1. In a well-designed game, the order of our conversation should change to suit the matter of the conversation.

2. In Apocalypse World, we don't roll dice to decide how it goes, but to decide which suitable conversation we'll have.

The resolution rules in The Sundered Land came straight out of this, to serve as examples even more clear than the examples in Apocalypse World.

So that's why. Thanks, Joshua!

(I'd be happy to answer any questions about this that anybody might have, as always.)
