Google is probably you best place to get Rio Olympics 2016 coverage.

#android #google #rio2016 #olympics #news
With the Rio Olympics kicking off on Friday with the opening ceremony, Google wants you to know that they have you covered in terms of easy-to-find info about the games. Just by searching within the Google App, you’ll find everything from event schedules, medal counts, and athlete info to results and highlights. You can even …

Here we go...

Also, can't wait for the crusty bloggers to tell everyone that their April Fools' pranks aren't worth the time because Google does it best.

Lighten up! It's all in good fun.
Get ready for April Fools' day. The early entries are already out, thanks to Google and Samsung.

#android   #google   #aprilfoolsday
Well, get ready for it – April Fools' 2015 has already started. Google is in on the act as usual, with a Pac-Man version of Google Maps that went live moments ago. Samsung is playing as well today, with the introduction of the Galaxy BLADE edge. There will be more, trust me. Some will be good, ...

Yikes. Wolf tickets sold?
Hey +TK TECH NEWS, are you for real? Did you really just watermark our Nexus tablet mockup as well as the keyboard diagram, going out of your way to cut off our watermarks and insert your shitty "TK" one in?

And that's after talking shit on Twitter last week, about how you're the real journalist, and how +Android Police was picking on you (both obviously false statements).

Fuck right off, you scumbag leech.

Original +Android Police post:

I'm so beyond pissed.

P.S. Here's another gem from TK: the Note 4, complete with the green battery icon from Jelly Bean and literally different devices all in the same leak:

Just a thought, since everyone else seems to have one.

I keep seeing this idea shared that because everyone is calling out OnePlus for their sexist and completely stupid "Ladies First" contest, that their marketing department and CEO are sitting in some room going, "Hah! We win again! Everyone is talking about us!" And also that we should just ignore them rather than give them free press.

While I understand a portion of that point, I think it's complete crap for the world to think that we should all ignore OnePlus for this latest garbage. Some times, people need to be called out for their stupid shit. This is one of those times. If you don't tell people about idiotic companies like this, then people don't know. I would rather people know.

And for those that really believe in "any press is good press," ask Paula Deen how that worked out.

Guys, apparently we shouldn't spend time going all #blogblogblog about Android M and new features you will likely see in the future. You know, doing news things like a news outlet who covers Android for a living does when there is news. We should instead be spending time as a glorified SEO site that doubles down as a storefront and affiliate hawker or sponsored post machine while acting as a news outlet.

Insert stupid GIF.

"The Apple Watch ... is kind of slow."

"Sometimes apps take forever to load, and sometimes third-party apps never really load at all. Sometimes it’s just unresponsive for a few seconds while it thinks and then it comes back."

"It’s also surprisingly heavy."

"[The] side button is extraordinarily confusing."

"In the first of many moments where the Watch felt underpowered, I found that the screen lit up a couple of ticks too slowly: I’d raise my wrist, wait a beat, and then the screen would turn on."

"Having a screen that constantly flips on and off is definitely behind the curve."

"There’s no particularly great digital face, and there’s no ability to load up your own watch faces or buy new ones from the store."

"There’s no master switch to turn all notifications on and off, which is a huge pain."

"By the end of each day, I was hyper-aware of how low the Apple Watch battery had gotten."

"You only get a charging cable, which is lame. For $700, you should a nice charging stand, like you get with the $249 Moto 360."

"There’s virtually nothing I can’t do faster or better with access to a laptop or a phone except perhaps check the time."

"There’s no question that the Apple Watch is the most capable smartwatch available today."

Google Now + a notification "whitelist" is all a smart watch should be. That "app drawer" on the Apple Watch makes my skin crawl

100% must read. In other words, if you read tech news on the daily, read this now.

Oh. #pickedupsomewolftickets     #theywerentrealeither
I gave Thomas Kelley Connors from TK Tech News multiple chances to come forward. He did not. Here he is in his true form: a liar and a fraud.

Need some non-Android help. I'm looking for something for my office desk that I can hook both headphones and speakers up to from my iMac, but that allows me to either switch between each, or control the volume of each independently.

Was hoping there was some sort of compact receiver or switch or something, but I have had no luck finding that.

I'm using two Polk Audio TSi100 bookshelf speakers, so they do have banana plugs. Headphones, will change regularly, so they aren't really a factor.

Any ideas, audio gurus?

If everything else with the hardware under discussion meets your needs, the speaker connection issue is one that should be solvable. If there is no impedance issue (4 Ohm vs 8 Ohm, etc.) between the outputs and your speakers, you may be able to find a pre-made adapter cable. E-bay, online connecter specialty stores, and forums such as Tom's Hardware are all possible solution centers that can be referenced with quick Google search. If nothing is pre-made, you could probably make your own adapter in a small plastic project box. Just possibilities. Good luck.

Trying to start a Hangout and getting "Not Found 404." Any workarounds or fixes?
Cheryl Edwards's profile photoHayley Downs's profile photoChad LaFarge's profile photo
+Hayley Downs If the Page has been set up with its own Admin Login, use that to start the Hangout at least once. In fact, it's a good idea to log out of all accounts and log in using that special Page Login to make sure that everyone is properly connected and configured. It should let you know if there is an issue while attempting to launch. Also, go ahead and load each and every one of the Hangout Extensions or Apps that you plan to use to make sure that each is authorized by the Page Login.

Since a fellow Android personality is dropping insider Nexus rumors, but doing them slowly, let's see if we can help by speeding up the process a tad. :)

Here is what we have heard (though the news is at least a month old):

-Last date we were told that Google had penciled in for a Nexus 5, Kit Kat, other Nexus unveiling was October 31. Google rarely hits their dates, so don't get too tied to that date.

-The codename for the Google-made watch is "Gem," first mentioned here:

-There are two other potential Nexus devices in the works under the codenames "Sauron" and "Molly" that could arrive with the Nexus 5 and Kit Kat. I have no idea what they are. Could be a new Nexus 10 or something we haven't even thought of.

-Last, is Google working on Android@Home stuff finally? We have heard of two other potential "Nexus" type devices called "Leep" and "Shining" with TBD arrivals.

That is all. Rumors, just rumors. Things always change with Google and none of this could end up being official.

<3 +Artem Russakovskii
I think that's the key factor in whether people voted Kit-Kat or Nexus 5. If you just got a GS4, HTC1, G2, etc and have no plans on getting a new phone, Kit Kat is key. However, if you're like me, and weren't impressed by the Nexus 4, and have been waiting patiently on your disturbingly outdated ...
