Last week at the Pastors Conference, we honored two tent-maker pastors. Jeff Wieman, who teamed up with Rick Whitney to start a new church at Oklahoma State University, received the “Golden Bus” award. Tom Dunham was recognized with the “Golden Heart” award for his on-going care for the church in Grand Forks, North Dakota over the past 30 years.

Please pray that God will continue to raise up more and more GCC pastors who exhibit courage and compassion as they advance the gospel of Jesus Christ.

When one GCC missionary visited Bangladesh in 2012, there were no believers in Christ among the Rohingya people. After that visit, the missionary's partner began visiting an area where approximately 700,000 Rohingya refugees live. Since then, 300 have trusted Christ and 100 of them were recently trained in evangelism and discipleship to reach the Rohingya people. Please pray that more unreached people groups will hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is the solution when Christians are persecuted? Prayer. What is the answer when we see less commitment among Christians? Prayer. What is our strategy when the church is going through spiritual, relational or financial trials? Prayer. If you have not joined the GCC Prayer Alliance, please consider doing so today.

Great FW Journal written by pastor Tom Brown today!

Step Out of the Spotlight - Monday April 28, 2014

But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:30-31

What matters most when it comes to my relationship with God, when it comes to my growth and maturity, when it comes to my fruitfulness, when it comes to my happiness and good in life, is not what I must do, but what Jesus has already done for me.

Sometimes we just need to relax and be saved. Do you know what I mean? We are trying so hard to be good enough, to be deserving, to be someone, that we miss the sweet, joyous freedom of being saved. The burden of our performance grows so large, and Jesus so small!

Some of you reading this are drifting from a sincere devotion to Jesus Christ. You are not growing. Your heart is cold and drawn to other things. The gospel is not captivating-because you are carrying the burden of being the hero. You think that the Christian life is a life of performing and being somebody, being a hero, and you can't keep up. You can't measure up, and it is crushing you. You are in danger of throwing it all away because you have missed what I am talking about. Don't throw your faith away. Throw your burdens away. Let your hero take them away from you. Step out of the spotlight, and let Jesus fill it. Let go and let Him be for you what you can never be.

Do you lack wisdom? Do not weep. He is your wisdom. Do you lack holiness? Do not weep. He is your holiness! Do you feel thoroughly unrighteous? Do not weep. He is your righteousness.
