The sea kayaking season is slowly coming to an end and we have decided to close direct booking on our website.
All of you enthusiastic paddlers out there can still reach us on info or bookings e-mail and schedule a tour! We'll be running Kayak and Bike Elaphite day trip for another week or so :)

With summer slowly but steadily moving behind us, we think it is time to say our goodbyes to the heat, sweat, scorching sun and all the joys of a now-and-then-occurring random breeze, and say hello to still warm seas, pleasant temperatures and (although we love them) more apparent lack of crowds of people squirming all around you trying to grab that little piece of shade...

Cliffs and Beaches tour is the one we don't talk about often, kinda like that strange cousin that pops up every once in a while on a family reunion dinner that nobody really knows anything about.
So, let us introduce this estranged cousin:
Cliffs and Beaches is an easygoing sea kayaking tour in Dubrovnik with a treat awaiting - perfect places for cliff jumping, swimming, snorkeling and after a hard day of paddle, lounging on big sandy Šunj beach - the biggest sand beach in southern Croatia.
For more info please visit our website:  http://outdoorcroatia.com/half-full-day/sea-kayaking-tour-dubrovnik-cliffs-and-beaches/
We took a couple of photos while on the tour, and they look great :)

Cheers!

It would be a shame to spend such a warm and sunny Saturday anywhere but under the open sky. So we decided to go hiking from Cavtat (some 12 miles south of Dubrovnik) to Ćilipi (a place better known as Dubrovnik airport).
We didn't encounter any airplanes, but we did see (and smell) magenta flowers of wild (Breckland) thyme almost perfect for picking, catch a "glass lizard" that lost its legs somewhere on the evolutionary path and tried to feed apples to a couple of horses that we met along the way.
* Fun fact: The glass lizards are so-named because their tails are easily broken and can break into several pieces, shattering like glass

Time for our new Active Spring themed blog post!

We are getting a lot inquiries for April and early May regarding Arches, Caves, and Islands tour, which are for the most part based on the excellent reviews that we get on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately, although this is a really fun tour, it is also a tour designed for summer and it combines paddling with a lot of swimming, snorkeling, cave-diving and cliff jumping.

Our summer temperatures get as high as 35°C (95°F), with the average sea temperature being around 24°C (75°F), which makes the occasional stop for swimming or cliff jumping a welcome relief from the heat. This time of year, however, with the sea temperature being around 12°C (54°F) even if sunny it is still too cold to run this type of tour.

This is the reason we are suggesting trying our one of our “spring” tours, like Kayak & Bike Elaphite, which combines easy paddling with relaxed biking, or Pedal Konavle, a bike-only tour that explores Konavle region located very close to Dubrovnik.

If in doubt what to do if you happen to find yourself in Dubrovnik this time of year, check it out.

Today's post is dedicated to all women adveturers out there. We have picked a few, some well known, some maybe not as well known as they should have been...
To quote Harriet Chalmers Adams, a famous American explorer, writer and photographer:
"I've wondered why men have so absolutely monopolized the field of exploration. Why did women never go to the Arctic, try for one pole or the other, or invade Africa, Thibet, or unknown wildernesses? I’ve never found my sex a hinderment; never faced a difficulty which a woman, as well as a man, could not surmount; never felt a fear of danger; never lacked courage to protect myself..."
• In 1926 Gertrude Ederle became the first woman to swim across the English Channel.
• Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner was the 11th person and first woman to climb all 14 8000-meter peaks without oxygen.
• Travelling with a change of clothes and a pearl-handled revolver, Annie Londonderry was the first woman to bicycle around the world. She was a remarkable sight to Victorian eyes.
• Annie Edson Taylor was an American adventurer who, on her 63rd birthday, became the first person to survive a trip over Niagara Falls in a barrel.
• Freya Hoffmeister who in 2009 completed a circumnavigation of Australia solo and unassisted, became the first woman and only the second person to do so.

It was high time for us to evolve from taking photos to filming short videos promoting our beautiful coastline, and water-based activities we love to do. The latest addition is "Sea Kayaking in Dubrovnik" short video depicting one of our last years weeklong kayaking tours.

Hope you enjoy!
