Mature Trees For Sale Utah
Large, full, magnificent, beautiful, and remarkable. These are just a few descriptors for mature trees. Driving around town you surely remark trees that have been around for a long time and wish you could have a similar tree in your yard providing shade, enhancing your privacy, or beautifying your yard even further. Luckily for you, we have mature trees for sale Utah!

Purchasing a mature tree is a great way to instantly provide shade, privacy, a living fence, or increase curb appeal. One of the most important aspects to consider when purchasing a mature tree is location.

Proper planning and forethought will ensure that your mature tree purchase is put to its best use. Many people think only in terms of the time that they plant it until 5 or so years in the future. But, if your tree grows quickly, like the Weeping Willow, Leyland Cyprus, or Colorado Blue Spruce, you should look further into the future. If you plant the tree too close to your home it could impact the foundation. Similarly, if It's planted too close to the property line or sidewalk it could require major pruning or cause some damage. We recommend looking at least 10-15 years down the road when planting a mature tree.

Because a mature tree should be just about done growing, they will still continue to fill up the space they're given to a certain extent. Most native pine trees in Utah will grow to be quite large, anywhere from 60-100' tall. Of course those trees will have been growing for many years. The mature trees we transplant are normally between 12 and 18' tall, but have the potential to grow much larger. If you plan on being in your home for a long time ensure that you plan ahead for the growth potential of your tree.

Pine Trees For Sale Utah
With Christmas quickly approaching everyone is wondering where there are pine trees for sale Utah. Look no further! At Willowcreek Tree Farms we have a large variety of in-stock pine trees for sale.

Our pine trees come from three different locations and each have their own unique attributes. Our first group are generally taller, more full, and great for rooms with vaulted ceilings. Our second group are shorter, fatter, and are wonderful for filling up with tons of ornaments. Our last group are tall and are generally more layered than the other two groups.

Traditionally people tend to gravitate towards the Colorado Blue Spruce for a Christmas tree, but you're able to set your own traditions! Besides our Colorado Blue Spruce we also have Austrian, Bristlecone, and Pinyon Pines.

Austrian pines have a wonderful, deep, rich green color. It makes a perfect backdrop for bright lights and ornaments. They also tend to be more layered than the Colorado Blue Spruce so they're great for elongated ornaments, tinsel, and other such decorations.

Bristlecone pines are extremely bushy and look almost fuzzy. They have an almost pipe-cleaner like appearance and are sure to please all the little ones running around your home.

Our Pinyon pines are normally used as privacy trees as they're extremely full, have a wide base, and a teardrop-like shape. Their color is usually lighter than the Austrian pines, and can provide a great color contrast in your home.

While we think that they're all very attractive, it's up to you to see which would work best for your home. We're open Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm and are open for walk-ins. We encourage you to drop by and take a look at all of the trees then put a tag on your favorite one! If you'd rather have one of our experienced staff members show you around, just give us a call at 385-257-0055 and we'll guide you to the best tree for your home.

Our tree moving service is for you! Whether you have a small tree or a large tree, we can move it. We also move trees that are already on your property, or we can bring in trees from our farm.

We recently completed a job where we brought in three different trees. The two smaller ones, 6′ and 8′, were fairly easy to get in, but the largest one, a 16′ Colorado blue spruce, proved to be more difficult. With some ingenuity and use of mechanics we were able to plant all of the trees. What a great day to be a tree moving service!

Trees For Landscaping Front Yard

We recently completed this job for a customer in Herriman. She wanted her own little grove to greet her every morning as she looked out her front door. It consists of three Aspen and one Colorado Blue Spruce. It’s possible we may add another tree down the road to it, but as for right now, she’s super enthused with the work we did.

Creating your own little tree sanctuary is great, not only for you, but for the environment and your neighborhood. For this customer it adds more color, privacy, and joy to her life and property.

Besides the Colorado Blue Spruce and Aspen, we’ve got many other trees for landscaping front yard. We go out every week and give free estimates to potential customers wanting to beautify their yard and would love to help you out.

While we normally talk about our pine trees for sale, today we’d like to take a different approach and talk about some of the insects and problems that can affect your trees.

Living in Utah there are a few different insects that you should know about: the white pine weevil, the pine needle scale, the Douglas-Fir Tussock Moth, and the Western Pine Beetle. These are all different insects with different life cycles and breeding patterns, but they all are harmful to different types of pine trees.

An obvious sign of any insect population is going to be oozing sap, discolored needles, and varying effects on the bark. Most of the time the insects and larvae are going to be very small, anywhere from 4mm up to 1cm, whereas the full-grown insects vary from 5mm up to an inch. The majority of the invasion and damages happen in mid-March through April, as that’s when the adults are breeding and laying their eggs. Between May and July is when the larvae develop and start to hatch. Late July through August is normally when the young emerge and do more damage to the host tree(s).

Mature Trees for Sale

Willowcreek Tree Farms has mature trees for sale, but what actually qualifies as a mature tree? Having lived in Utah for quite some time I’ve seen my fair share of trees and know they come in all shapes and sizes. Bonzai trees can be mature at a very small size, whereas some pines will grow to be 200 feet tall. Trees can also live for a very long time, some over hundreds or thousands of years, so it’s tough to base maturity off of age.

What Qualifies as a Mature Tree?

Such a great question! There are so many different ways of approaching this topic so I’ll try to break it down as simply as I can:

A tree that has grown as large as you want it to
A tree that has a full height and canopy
A tree that is at least 10 years old
A tree that is still growing and has at least half of its life expectancy left
With all of these different criterion though, it seems like some of them are mutually exclusive. This is because there are so many different types of trees and they all grow differently. For the most part whenever you are inquiring about a “mature tree” most places will discuss trees that are at least 10 years old.

Mature Trees for Sale

For our definition of “mature trees” we say that they’re at least a few years old and have grown to a good height. We have trees that are as tall as 15’, but the majority that we sell are between 6’ and 10’. We like to sell them at these heights as they’re still quite large, though not too big to move. Through years of experience we’ve discovered that the trees at this size have the greatest likelihood of surviving a transplantation. If they get much larger then their root systems become very developed and have a greater chance of perishing. That being said, we’re still able to transport or relocate trees larger than 15’, and do so regularly, but know that there is an increased risk of tree atrophy.
