Undoubtedly, the Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500 Index is a widely used benchmark for many professional financial managers as well as individuals who manage their own investments.

But there is a new way methodology of weighing the S&P 500 index which has, over the past several years, gained steam. As a result, it has seen more investors’ inflows and returns. This methodology is the Equal Weight Index.

If you’re somewhat involved in your finances, certain things about it may excite you. You may get excited every time you earn income.

Whether you earn income from a job and a paycheck, through dividends, or through any kind of business or consulting, you may get a feeling of excitement that I’ve been rewarded for the work that I’ve performed.

Monitoring your credit score is an important component of financial responsibility. It reflects the positive/negative items in your credit report in an easy to understand this three digit number.

It also makes the process of determining a consumer's creditworthiness relatively easy as compared to manual underwriting.

The difference between a credit score and credit report, however, should be noted.

My commute right now is pretty sweet. It takes less than 30 minutes to get to and from work. Since I go to work four days a week, my commute is a total of 120 minutes or two hours per week.  I’m fortunate because, for some people, they are commuting two hours or more per day, but that’s a whole other story.

On the weekend, I’d say typically car time could be two hours in total. So for seven days or 168 hours, I’m in the car for four hours. That is 2% of my time.

So you’ve set up and funded your emergency savings account. So you’re saving a respectable amount consistently for retirement, so you’re making good money and have a couple of passive income streams to go along with it. So you’ve controlled your spending a bit and found ways to save around the home and in your life. So what’s next?

Believe it or not, there are next-level things you can do to continue to optimize your finances and use your finances to feel good about yourself.
