Finally have it all put back together. Has a new catalytic converter and muffler to eliminate possible exhaust backup. I Have every valve next to loose.
It will start, run for about 3 seconds and choke out. (original problem) I can keep it running fine if I feather the gas, and it also seems to run fine through most rpm ranges. Stupid thing just won't idle. I can also keep it running on cleaner spray, so I am led to believe I have a weak fuel spray setting at idle.
Has a new idle air control valve, new map sensor,
Has a new distributor, new fuel pump. I guess the oxygen sensor is next?
Any ideas, anybody? I've thought about swapping the injector wires, thinking maybe somebody re-wired them wrong (they have new, blue wiring)
China's boom is still moving forward.
Word around the community is this E-Cat keeps getting 3rd party verification, and now it has been replicated by third parties!
My favorite take from this article; "hopium"
Have a 92 Chevy P30 that is stumping the best of us. It has had several new distributors, new computer, new fuel pump, etc. When I go to check it out, the only thing I could find is that when it acts up and chokes out, it seems the intake vacuum goes from negative (19)-(23) psi to ZERO PSI. I also suspect it may even going in the positive, but the vacuum gauge wont read that direction. During the diagnosis, it even fired back through the intake a few times.
It has also had a new intake job done (and it was leaking coolant badly) My prognosis is that the intake valves are hanging up, causing combustion gases / pressure to go back up through the intake, not only throwing that one cylinder into misfire, but causing the other cylinders to get thrown off from the positive intake pressure and extraneous gases, with no fuel (it has throttle body injection).
Before I go forth with a full head job, wanted to see if anybody had any other ideas.
