+J. Steven York here.  +Chris York (aka mystery authors Christy Fifield and Christy Evans) and I have been talking for a while about doing some sort of podcast/audio blog thing, and after some debating about what we would do and how it would work, we finally decided to just sit down and give it a try.  We weren't sure it would be worth releasing, but I don't think it turned out bad, so here it is for you to listen and comment on.

We're calling it "Tsunami Hang 10," after our shared publisher Tsunami Ridge Publishing, and the idea that it would be about 10 minutes long.  Our theory is that 10 minutes is long enough to have some content and make it worth cuing up for the listener, but not long enough to bore them too much or take too much of our time in production.

No hard sell, just the two of us having fun, talking mystery, books, north Florida (where we each have a mystery series set), and anything else of interest.  Give it a try and let us know what you think.

By the way, there are two versions.  One is a "video enhanced" version on YouTube, linked below, and there's also an audio-only version on Soundcloud available here:

Like I said, comments encouraged and welcome, but be gentle.  We really don't know what the hell we're doing here, and this is our first try.

Christy also writes outside mystery under her real name of Christina F. York.  Here's her young adult novel, "Rodeo Royalty," now available in trade paper, ebook, and coming soon, audio book.

Christy's husband +J. Steven York here:

Went to the post office today and picked up a nice royalty check for Christy on "Murder Buys a T-Shirt."  Big thanks to all her fans who have supported the books and have helped it to "earn out" so quickly!  Please stay with her.  There's plenty more to come!

It's release day for "Murder Hooks a Mermaid!" Just a little endorsement for y'all.

"Author Christy Fifield creates the kind of characters that stay with you for a long time. Fifield’s new Haunted Souvenir Shop mystery, Murder Hooks a Mermaid has it all: a sunny, relaxed setting, captivating locals, delicious food, and—of course—murder! Delightful amateur sleuth Glory Martine is back with her wisecracking parrot and charming group of friends in this thoroughly entertaining adventure. Don’t miss it."—Julie Hyzy, National Bestselling author of the Manor House Mysteries and the White House Chef Mystery series

Christy hasn't posted this yet, perhaps concerned that it's blowing her own horn, but we recently learned that "Murder Buys a T-Shirt" has "earned out" during its first reporting period.

This is publishing talk meaning that the royalties earned from sales have already paid back the advance-payment she got for doing the book, and all additional sales from here-on-out generate royalty payments directly to the author.

And since that advance payment is based on what the publisher expects they might eventually earn on the book, it basically means "sales have already exceeded expectations."

Things are rough in book publishing these days, so this is a great accomplishment.  To do it in the first accounting period covering the book is pretty darned phenomenal!  So congrats to Christy, and thanks to all the readers who have contributed by buying, reviewing, and recommending the book!
