Historically, television has been the only show in town for watching and delivering video content. For decades, it has been the primary source of entertainment, information and relaxation for most people. With the Internet becoming more widely available, a new star has been born and more and more people now have access to something they never had before… choice. An alternative to watch what you want, when you want to.

TV is a one way broadcast where the consumer has no channel to discuss or question what is being presented. Online video on the other hand provides advertisers and content creators with discoverable, targeted  and cost-effective alternatives.

Online videos allows consumers the opportunity to question advertisers as well as gain feedback from others who are familiar with the product or service at hand and we now engage a multi-point discussion. 78% of consumers trust peer recommendation while only 14% trust ads (Erik Qualman, Socialnomics).

Online video is discoverable and is on-demand, so no more clicking through the TV channels hoping to discover something you may be interested in.

For quite some time,we had been trying to think of a location for delivering and procuring content in a quiet and controlled environment; an environment that looked the part while still adhering to clients’ budgets.

Finding a quiet environment that met the criteria at our clients’ premises, even our own, was proving to be a tricky task. Matching lighting on return shoots was time consuming and I always felt there was an easier way of going about this.

I woke up one morning last year and had my “eureka” moment. What if we were to transform our storage room into a content lab? We would have a controlled environment that was always ready for Action…

The “Story Studio” was born!

And problem 1 was solved… Our next issue, how are we going to make this space look the part and feel like a film studio?

The green screen! With our exceptional carpentry skills we neatly pieced together a few pieces of wood on a frame, erected it in the front of our designated space and put on a couple of coats of green paint.

Now you may be wondering why it’s always green, well the answer is quite simple. Green is the colour that is least like any skin tones (unless you’re shooting the hulk) and when we do our key in post we do not need to do a lengthy masking job.

Our green back drop would ensure we had one story studio that could meet all our clients and friends environment needs, because we wouldn’t need extra rooms for storage or props and set pieces because this could all be done in the wonderful world of post production.

Next, we set up lights and reflectors to evenly light the green screen, and a couple of LED’s for subject lighting. A microphone to capture voice and lastly some sound damping to reduce echo.

The I AM BRO’s Story Studio was alive and breathing! I could feel my mad scientist laugh taking over!

Our intimate environment where cameras are ready to roll at the flick of a switch, with an autocue on standby to help settle the nerves and assist in super-quick and flawless takes.

What if I told you that you could get your hands on:
• A brand new sports car for the price of a second hand sedan?
• A business class ticket at cattle class cost?
