Fantastic bar. Very relaxed, great bartenders, and clean! I came here with a group of friends on a Sunday night close to 9pm so it wasn't super crowded. They've got a huge selection of drafts, and the bartender was very friendly and made recommendations. From earthy and dry to fruity and bright, there are tons of beers to choose from, and the prices are very reasonable ($2-6 for 4oz and $6-15 for a glass). They also have sparkling, white, red, and rosé wines by the glass and bottles, as well as cocktails and whiskies. And if you've got the munchies, they have tater tots, wings, disco fries, and hot plates of grilled cheese, half-smokes, burgers, and meat pies. Sister establishment downstairs is Birch and Barley. Great atmosphere, very laidback and casual. Bartenders are beer sommeliers/aficionados and can turn any skeptic into an enthusiast. If you're looking for a good bar in DC (with the largest selection of craft beers), ChurchKey is highly recommended.

What can be said about churchkey that hasn't been said? Awesome space, good vibe, excellent beer, good value. This place is great every time you go. The menu is diverse enough to be happy every time and the staff is super knowledgeable. This is a classic DC spot that should not be missed.

The pricing is affordable and the selection of beers is outstanding. They have an incredible variety that even the most picky pallets will find a delectable beer. Additionally the grilled cheese is clutch for a late night snack. Seating is tricky and it can get very crowded, but if you play your cards right and stay near the booths, eventually you'll get one.

One of my favorite DC bars, mainly for their fantastic beer selection (literally hundreds to choose from)! For any beer connoisseur, this is a must. Wait service available if you have a table. Feel free to ask your waiter/bartender for their opinion, they are usually happy to oblige. Sometimes they will bring you tasters too before you make a decision. No happy hour, unfortunately. Still the prices are reasonable for most of their beers. I must try out their sister restaurant downstairs soon!

Beer! Beer beer and more beer! This place has it all when it comes to beer. Well, almost...sometimes they rotate the beer list and they remove the favorite beer of yours...but that's life. The food is probably the only reason I dropped it down a star. This place simply just doesn't cut it when it comes to my choices in food. It's pretty much adult versions of kids foods. Grilled cheese? um...nah, i'm 30 "bro" and I want to eat some real meals. That said, if you're into "flat breads" (pizza where i come from) then they do have some decent ones here. Not outstanding (go to H&Pizza for outstanding) but it'll satisfy you for a bit. Service is always on point. I've never had a server here that sucked. Always friendly, pretty reasonably prompt for the crowds they get, and always knowledgable on the alcohols. Highly suggest you go.

(this review for Birch and Barley just below Churchkey) Excellent: service, food, and craft beer. Every experience rewarding. If you visit with some frequency, they'll know you by name.

I really liked the local beer and the many options of beer there were to have from. I really was happy when the waiter gave me a beer for free when he was only able to fill half way because of the keg was finished. Every season they have seasonal beer and I have tried the Fall and Summer seasonal beers and they have all been tasty!

When the craft beer scene was just starting out, Churchkey was the one to take the helm in the DC area. Opening up above their sister restaurant Birch & Barley, Churchkey is more relaxed with a focus on beer and smaller portion appetizers. I highly recommend going here and taking some time to read the menu, talk with the bartenders, and order a few smaller sizes to get a broad range or beer for a great price. They often have beer specials going on, so be sure to keep up with their social media accounts. And for DC beer royalty lovers, this is where Greg Engert made a name for himself.
