Zamosc (situated in the southeastern Poland) is a unique example of a Renaissance town in Central Europe and the best-preserved Renaissance town in Poland. Built in accordance with the Italian theories of the "ideal town". Its historical city centre was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. The distinguishing main features of Zamosc Old Town are: regular Great Market with dimensions of 100 × 100 meters with Townhall and so-called Armenian houses, as well as the fragments of fortifications.

Warsaw Uprising Museum is one of the main attractions of Warsaw. Opened in 2004 and housed in a restored redbrick power station. It's dedicated to Warsaw Uprising of 1944. Museum is full of modern and interactive expositions which help to understand what happened in Warsaw 70 years ago. Museum is divided into different sections like: Hangar where visitors have chance to see replica of legendary B-24 Liberator, Nazi section:history of occupied Poland or Children section which is very moving experience. You'll have chance to hear many personal stories or see 6 minute 3D film - City of Ruin.

[Polish cuisine] Stuffed Cabbage Rolls are perfect example of traditional polish cuisine. Their polish name is Gołąbki (eng.little pigeons) and they are also popular in Balkans, Central, North and East Europe. It's a dish consisting cabbage leaves wrapped around a variety of fillings. In Poland the filling is a combination of rice, meat and spices. Usually, served with tomato sauce.

[Famous Poles] Witold Pilecki - Unknown Polish hero, fighter for freedom against German occupation and Soviet regim. He was a Polish soldier , the founder of the Secret Polish Army resistance group in German-occupied Poland in November 1939 and a member of the underground Home Army , which was formed in February 1942. On Sept. 19, 1940, Polish resistance member Witold Pilecki deliberately had himself arrested and sent to Auschwitz, where he spent two years supplying Allied forces with information about the concentration camp. He confirmed in 1941 that the Nazis were intent on exterminating Jews, and the following year his organization discovered the gas chambers. His reports reached Britain and the United States. In the spring of 1943 he escaped from Auschwitz Birkenau. In August 1944 he took part in Warsaw Uprising. The Warsaw Uprising was crushed in early October and Pilecki was arrested. Pilecki returned to Poland in September 1945 to gather intelligence on the Communist government. Pilecki was arrested by the Communist Polish police on May 8, 1947. He was brutally tortured by interrogators for six months before signing a statement confessing to conspiring against the government. He was found guilty in a show trial and sentenced to death. He was executed on May 25, 1948.

The world's largest population of European bisons lives in Poland. Today in the whole world there are only 3000 of them, out of which 1.2 thousand lives in our country. Most of them live in the wild, in five populations. The bisons in captivity are kept in 20 herds in the Bison Breeding Centres and zoos and are part of the bison ex-situ conservation. The one you see one the photo is one of the herd living in the wild in the Bialowieza Forest, numbering about 500 bisons.

[Famous Poles] Pope John Paul II was born Karol Wojtyla on May 18, 1920, in Wadowice, Poland. He was the second longest-serving pope in history. John Paul II was one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century. He was a vocal advocate for human rights and used his influence to effect political change. He is recognised as helping to end Communist rule in his native Poland and eventually all of Europe. It was announced in July of 2013 that he would be declared a saint in April 2014.
