Convention season is upon us. Here is your PSA regarding disease prevention.
If you haven't gotten your flu shot this year, do so at least 2 weeks before the con. Make sure your other immunizations are up to date; the past thing anyone needs is to catch measles from some psycho anti-vaccer.
Get plenty of sleep before the convention. During, stay hydrated & try to get at least 6 hours of sleep a night.
Wash your hands, don't just use hand sanitizer. Washing is more effective in many ways as it actively removes things from your hands, while sanitizer just kills SOME things. Also, shower once a day.
If you seem to be getting sick before the convention, DO NOT ATTEND. I know that's horrible; these are expensive affairs and often the highlight of the year, but seriously. You don't want to be patient 0.
Last year one of the organizers at Katsucon died because someone showed up with H1N1. She was immuno-compromised and could not get a vaccine. Herd immunity is SO IMPORTANT.
Now, go forth and have fun! But be safe
