In other political commentary... When stuff like this can be legal, there really isn't a question as to why people get fed up with politics:
Stephen talks about super PACs without coordinating with Jon.

CompSci (and math, in general) should involve more dancing demos.

You know, I've always taken my two years of Comp Sci (before gracefully dropping out) for granted, but now when I want to share this with all my friends and cow-orkers, they're like, "No, I've never programmed." Huh.

Ahhh, John Stewart. Thank you. I've worked with some of those nerds... and we do need a Revenge of the Nerds moment to go with SOPA.
If SOPA passes, people who stream copyrighted music could go to jail for five years.

There's more truth in this fake ad than there is in many actual ads.

This commercial isn’t real, and neither are society’s standards of beauty.

While I have never liked touch-screens, I could never really state why all that clearly. This rant sums it up perfectly. It's numb. The picture below shows the only other times that a finger is used in quite the same way as a touch-screen, according to the author.
It's a lot of this sort of thing. As it happens, designing Future Interfaces For The Future used to be my line of work. I had the opportunity to design with real working prototypes, not green scre...

Agreed. When I saw the preview of Windows 8, which made it clear that Microsoft wants to make every device into a touch-screen mobile phone, I just about lost it. First, almost nobody has touch monitors. They're mandating a massive shift in hardware across their entire userbase. Second, nobody wants to spend their days leaning forward in their office chairs to tap tap tap on their monitors. Our shoulders and backs would simply commit mutiny and turn us into some kind of hunchbacked mutant army. Third, touch screens are gross. We all know what we're eating while we use our computers. What kind of oil gets on our fingers after a fried chicken dinner, or a swipe through unwashed hair, or a dip into the Doritos bag. That crap will be all over your brand new $800 monitor.

Devices need to fit users. Users should not be expected to break themselves to fit devices.

I used to use the company long ago, when they were ServiceMagic. Finding the company name had changed, I wasn't sure if the quality would be as good as it used to be. I'm happy to say that they have been just as easy to work with now as ever. I've been able to get quotes for walkways and other home improvement needs quickly and the pros that I've been sent have been great. They have been quick to give me a quote for services and have even expedited my requests to get them in when I can do them. Their project coordinators also make sure that you have been contacted - though I honestly haven't needed to work with them because the pros that I've been matched with have been quick with their own communication.
