I thought it was post-worthy given the critique and the source, but what it says is actually interesting.

Also it's amazingly good journalistically: the last line is a good take-away not just for this article, but for politics (social, office, political, etc) in general:

"“There are no facts in an election year,” he said. “Four percent of GDP is not a fact. Fifteen ships a year is not a fact. They are campaign promises. They cannot be achieved in this fiscal environment, and the reason they cannot be achieved is because we are now in a universe where everything is on the table.”"

Republicans: lets cut taxes for big corporations, rape the poor, create more national debt by killing "terrorists"! FUCK women, minorities, and especially those damn immigrants!

The economic crisis caused by George W. Bush, the GOP, and the Federal Reserve under Alan Greenspan has wiped out ALL -- yes ALL -- family net worth generated between 1990 and 2010.

That's two decades of wealth -- gone under the GOP.  Wiped out by lax regulation and Wall Street gambling.

Worth reading in its entirety!

George W. Bush's financial advisor says:  "The 2001 tax cut did nothing to stimulate the economy, yet Republicans pushed for additional tax cuts in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2008. The economy continued to languish even as the Treasury hemorrhaged revenue... Republicans abolished [pay as you go budget procedures] in 2002, and spending rose to 20.7 percent of G.D.P. in 2008 from 18.2 percent in 2001.  According to the C.B.O., by the end of the Bush administration, legislated tax cuts reduced revenues and increased the national debt by $1.6 trillion. ... Putting all the numbers in the C.B.O. report together, we see that continuation of tax and budget policies and economic conditions in place at the end of the Clinton administration would have led to a cumulative budget surplus of $5.6 trillion through 2011 – enough to pay off the $5.6 trillion national debt at the end of 2000."

"Draw one line on a graph charting the decline in union membership, then superimpose a second line charting the decline in middle-class income share, and you will find that the two lines are nearly identical."
