How exactly does the stock market work ? - http://buff.ly/XUvlaU
Modern corporations require a lot of capital, which is beyond the reaches of a few individuals. Markets help companies raise money from a large number of people and together these investors value their company. The theory is that when a large number of people do their independent valuation, the company's price comes more closer to its ideal worth.

A backdoor entry into IIM A - http://buff.ly/1mM1QNI
As an alumnus of IIM A, I am going to share with you one of the easiest way to crack into the most sought after institute. A cheat code to your dream college. Even if you have screwed up your academics in 10th, 12th or Engineering or even CAT scores, it doesn't matter. The PGP-ABM programme can come to your rescue. It is considered by most as a backdoor entry into IIM A. The words don't sound that good but the programme is not as bad as you may t...

A great inspiration for all MBAtious people - Prem Kumar http://buff.ly/1mJllXt
I have learnt a lot from my 8 years of CAT preparation, 4 CAT attempts, 3 PI rejects, missing IIMC call by 1 mark and getting an entry to IIMC in the last waitlist movement. There have been so many questions asked to me in various forums and I hope it will be helpful if I have all my answers at the same place.

Crack CAT in 3 months http://buff.ly/1obp1oy
CAT is not a mystery, it is a combination of Hard Work + Intelligence + Luck (only because of the online format). You can't change luck. All you can do in 3 months is adjust you hard-work settings and try not to harm your intelligence too much. I too had to prepare for CAT in under 2-3 months of serious preparation and found the following points working in my favour.

IIM A Lingo - http://buff.ly/1mY0BKy
Fachcha(i): "A collective noun used to refer to the collection of poor, tormented souls studying in the first year. Poor kids working their asses off 20 hours a day and still getting it kicked by Professors and recruiters alike. Miserable beings who survive for months on a week's worth of sleep. Wretched people surrounded by a barrage of assignment

CAT - Section 1 ( Quant / DI ) - http://buff.ly/1tZUY8d
Have you ever wondered how some people score consistently and comfortably in Quant/DI section of MBA exams? Irrespective of the difficulty level and the topic distribution they score well, like a gift. This article is based on the methods of some of the best quant minds I know (which includes Quant mentors and folks from top business schools). So here we go!

Placements at IIM - an insider view http://buff.ly/1taKIaA
Salaries across IIMs vary greatly (especially when you take the old IIMs in one bucket and the new ones in another) and also within any IIM they show sharp contrasts between the guy who got placed first and the one who got placed last. In general, if you are In IIM ABC, you would expect amazing offers to the top 30% of the batch, really good ones for the next 30%, not so great for the next 30% and why-did-I-come-to-IIM for the last 10%. Life is a...

When should you think twice before joining IIM A ? - http://buff.ly/1nXoHKA
This is not a joke but a serious advice. The pressure in the first year is intense and some people are unable to handle it. It is mental torture for many. And that, I feel, is IIM A's funda. If you can bear the stress of the first year, then you are ready to bear any stress in corporate and personal life. But what if you cannot?

The trouble with the Indian MBA education http://buff.ly/1qvw620
Management educators, as the author rightly states need to take more than the fair share. Most of them are recycling concepts and theories which have long passed the due date. Few want to swim against the tide and innovate in the classroom or in the course design. There are simply no incentives to do so and there is always a risk of failure. If educators do not innovate, how do we expect the students to be innovative? Further, few educators want ...

How to speed-read ? - http://buff.ly/1zpIy8P
Most people read word by word, and often say the words to themselves using the voices in their heads. Why do we do this? I fully blame kindergarten reading programs, which force children to read out loud both in class and at

Five (plus one) mistakes an MBA aspirant should never make - http://buff.ly/1qeQIjq
MBA College is termed as the journey of our life. A journey that will change us and our pay cheques forever (ah! one can hope you know). But before we embark on the journey there are major hurdles in the way, the much coveted CAT/XAT exams and the dreaded GD/ PI/ WAT and whatever they feel like throwing at us. In this one year you’ll end up facing so many highs and lows (keeping in mind that serious prep starts from June -July and the fact that C...
