Back in 1997 I inherited my aunts genealogy that includes xeroxed copies of marriage records, birth certificates, etc. of immediate family members and proofs for ancestors. At the time I inherited, I was using an unknown version of PAF that did not have a place for sources.  All sources, such as they were, were included in notes. I was pretty green at the time so I did what I did and then moved on to research ancestors and get a little smarter about sourcing and eventually find mine way to Legacy and got even smarter.  Now I feel a need to make digital images of these records and add them correctly to my Legacy database.  I am just trying to decide how I want to source these documents copies.  I would like to include the original location of the records such as the Utah State Vital Records for births and deaths but also want to give credit where credit is due to my aunts and mother who originally gathered this info.  Would appreciate any suggestions as to how you would source such records.

It certainly looks like there is room for an additional child to be added to each row.  Why even though I have things set as best fit is it only showing 4 children per row?

I am away from home and only on my laptop, and now I only have 5 children in a column.  At home I am on my laptop, but I have a large monitor!  That gave me 6 children to a column!  I always have my Tree open, no matter what I am doing on my laptop. (I also have a large external drive, with lots of photos and files!)

I have been busy adding obits to my Legacy 8.  Discovered last night that when I backup my multimedia the files I added the obits to are not being backed up.  Can't figure out what I am doing wrong.  Would greatly appreciate some suggestions.

For us Legacy users who have our Legacy files linked to FamilySearch Family Tree, there is an update. It fixes the issue of the strange spouses that were showing up and lets us merge individuals through Legacy and add discussions. They mention they are still working on sources and once that is done they will have full FamilySearch Tree Share+ Certification. Happy day!!!!!

For some reason when using this feature, extra spouses showed up. I have enough strange relatives, gotta love em' though, without having Legacy give me more.

Happy to report a somewhat successful restoration of my Legacy File and multimedia files onto a different computer than I ordinarily use.  Because of the way I have my multimedia files set up, linking my multimedia to sources would have been a several step process than I did not want to go through just for practice.  But I did successfully link a couple of my multimedia files.  I now I know if my laptop crashes it will take some time to link things up to a new computer.  But, that is better than starting from crash.  Just hope my laptop lasts forever so that I don't ever have to restore it or Legacy comes up with a better backup system..

Wow - this was the week for scary computer experiences! The other day my laptop would not start at all - googled it and went through a few suggestions and was grateful I had backed it up the day before but was stressing over what to do. Then I noticed that the connection (I use a a surge protector and then the laptop cord connects at the brick - laptop to brick, brick to plug) was NOT connected. Duh! maybe the first thing to check. So no matter what - if you have not had your coffee, sometimes you miss the easy answer.
It certainly made me happy that I back up regularly and have my genealogy files in the cloud.  Hope your restoration went well and that you have some backups (in Legacy have you backed up family files, multimedia and your user settings?) that will work for you. Good reminder - not only backup and sync with cloud BUT also make sure you can recover those files.

My experience today with Legacy today was very frustrating.  Never had that happen before.  I have still been having issues backing up my multimedia files and have a theory as to why.  Today I tried restoring my Legacy file to a computer at my Family History Center so I could check out my theory.  I was able to restore my main file just fine.  But could not figure out how to restore the multimedia to its main file. I would really appreciate some help.

I'll have to check, I am pretty sure my multimedia is over 2GB, only issue I have found so far, knock on wood, is that it loads a bit slow.  So, I wait for it.

Interesting stuff, we are all learning +Marla Larson .  Thanks for the follow up post.

This is what I have selected. I have also unchecked the Include half-siblings in the list but it made no difference.

Here is my screen capture.  Sorry, I haven't added a lot of photos to my database.  I have been working on a photo project to share with family members and that is taking a good deal of my time.  The green arrows mean I and FamilySearch Family Tree are in sync.  The red arrows on Mary Louisa Heath mean that my record and FamilySearch Family Tree have both made changes since the last time I synced the records. I love the way all the children in large families can show on the screen.  The exception to that being my dad's family.  There were 13 children in his parents family and only the first 12 will show.

Here are 3 screen shots of customized shots of my Legacy file with 2 different things I have customized and something I thought of myself to help keep my brain straight. I am not sure how they will appear on the post so if needed will comment more.

Introduction
I love family history research and history in general. You can imagine my joy when I can learn about both all at once.  I also enjoy reading, photography and most of all my family.

It was inevitable that I marry someone whose dad owned a sawmill because since our marriage, I have found many of my ancestors had sawmills too.

I can be found at my local family history center once a week where I love helping others with there genealogy.  I was surprised to find that I also enjoy being a den leader even though my own sons are long past that stage.

Some of my genealogy brick walls:
1. Is Mary Ann Clapp, the wife of Lyman Simpson,  the same Mary Ann Clapp who is the daughter of Adolphus Clapp and Hannah Pomeroy?,

2. Where  in the world is Elizabeth Clark's parents. Thomas Clark and Anne or Anna Buck?

3. Is William E. Higby's mother Clarissa Sprague and not Martha Keith? I have found a marriage of Ezra Higby and Clarissa Sprague and Ezra's wife in 1850 was named Clarissa.
