Snowmobile Track Inspection Video - What to Look for When Inspecting Your Snowmobile Track

One of the questions we receive quite often is, "what do I look for to determine whether my snowmobiles track needs to be replaced?" Well, there are several things to look for when inspecting your sleds track to determine whether it needs to be replaced. Listed are some common signs of wear to look for:

* Worn lugs - Worn lugs will hinder accelration and braking
* Dry rotting - The track will have tiny cracks in the material
* Worn or broken track clips - Broken guide clips will accelerate wear on the hyfaxes and cause a lack of performance
* Obvious damage - This includes tears, pulled through studs, shredding and more
* Worn or broken inner drive lugs - This condition can cause track slippage as well as can cause the track to come off

A worn track can present both safety and performance issues. You should inspect your sleds snowmobile periodically looking for signs of wear. If you any questions, need help in picking out the appropriate replacement track for your snowmobile and/or are ready to order call us at 607-693-1031 M-F 10am to 4pm EST or visit our sledtrack.com website 24/7.

Studded snowmobile tracks - Traditional Studding vs. Pre-Studded Video

When shopping for a studded snowmobile track you have the choice of traditional push through studs with a predrilled snowmobile track OR a snowmobile track that comes prestudded. The traditional studding provides a more aggressive bit while the prestudded tracks tends to be more durable.

Studding a track yourself will take more time and generally cost more money. You'll also have to decide on the stud and backer combination to use. The prestudded tracks simply involve the removal of the old track and the installation of the new prestudded track. Prestudded tracks are engineered correctly and take the guesswork out of choosing which stud package to go with.

Examples of predrilled tracks you can stud are the Camoplast Ripsaw 9968H144, Carve 9837H96, Ripsaw 9968H96 and the Hacksaw 9043H144.

For snowmobile tracks that come prestudded, you can choose from the Camoplast Ice Attak series 9028H, 9029H, 9037H, 9134H; Ice Ripper XT series 9077H, 9079H, 9164H; Ice Attak XT series 9200H, 9202H, 9190H, 9201H, 9236H, 9191H, 9192H, 9203H; and the Ice Cobras series 9244C, 9245C, 9246C, 9273C, 9272C, 9247C, 9312C, 9313C, 9314C, 9315C, 9249C.
