Kemp McLeod, owner, of the Mac's Pride peaches brand, has received the Order of the Palmetto, the highest honor bestowed upon a civilian in South Carolina, for his contributions to the state and farming. The family also was presented a resolution from the South Carolina Senate and House of Representatives, and the official designation of a Century Farm.

A Mac's Pride Peach from McLeod Farms? Sure, Papa, we'll take 1 or 3 or 7. Seriously, these two (twin grandchildren of Benji Richter) have devoured 7 South Carolina peaches in 2 days. They're that good. Full bellies don't lie.

An explosion of peach blooms along "the Ridge," near the tiny town of Monetta, South Carolina. It sounds like a landmark, but the Ridge is a huge slice of heaven on Earth, covering three counties and known for the peaches that grow there in juicy abundance. It's South Carolina's most famous peach-growing region and one of the most popular sources of the fruit worldwide.
