Summary based on 1 work dinner: --disappointing food (see below) --expensive, but not sure why --friendly service --ok setting. I had the cod, served with crispy pork belly, *green onions*, a couple of slices of blood orange, and shiitake mushrooms, and a "sweet and sour" sauce. Basically the dish didn't come together at all. The onions were a mistake. $42. Started by splitting abalone starter. It was ok, but nothing special, except the price $26. By the way, $75 for the Maine lobster pot pie as the Market Price when Maine lobster prices are depressed to historic low levels? I mentioned this to the waiter, who was no doubt happy to hear my comment on food economics. I've been to a lot of high end restaurants, but increasingly having a difficult time understanding why. Can't see myself returning.

My partner and I have been to Michael Mina twice now and both times we fell in love with the delicious food and wine, impeccable service, and wonderful ambiance. My favorite dishes include the tuna tartare and the ribeye. My partner ordered the lobster pot pie but both of us were a little put off by this deconstructed version. During the last visit, we had a special offering from the Chef, a play on grilled cheese and tomato soup - it was to die for. If you happen to be in San Francisco, this is a definite recommendation. You can't go wrong.

Excellent food and service. A perfect spot for a special occasion. Don't miss ordering their tuna tartare. It's beautiful and fun to see the plate come together right in front of your eyes.

Kitchen was a disappointment. I expected mind blowing seafood (did the 6-course pescetarian tasting menu) and it wasn't even close to, say, Le Bernardin or WD50, in terms of quality, for the same price. In particular, abalone was undercooked (had to be sent back) and the battered sea bass tasted like it was from a fast food chain's fryer. Portion size was microscopic; try finishing any course in more than 5 minutes. Nowhere near the hype and certainly not worth the money. Would not return even if bill was cut in half.

Hands down one of the best meals I've ever had! Do the tasting you won't regret it. Love the use of interesting ingredients and the service is awesome. A great place to go for an anniversary celebration.

I've always enjoyed any Michael Mina restaurant and this one could not disappoint. The entrance is just stunning with nice glasses and a nice, trendy bar area that you could hang out if you need to wait for your table. You can go for the Chef Menu or just a la carte. The scallops were to die for and their chocolate dessert delicious. I once went for the Chef menu and need to admit that it was a wee bit too much.
