Planning on traveling to Colombia? Don't miss visiting Villa de Leyva and Barichara! Both are well preserved colonial towns that has a very nice charm to them. While I was in Ecuador, the locals there actually told me that if I am going to Colombia, I need to go to both of those towns because they are very beautiful. Apparently, Colombians take their families there during holidays. If the locals are spending their vacation time in those towns, then it must be good! Have you ever done volunteer work abroad? If not, you are definitely missing out on one of the best experience travel can give you! While traveling through Colombia, I got a chance to do volunteer work in a hostel at a town called Guatape. It was hands down one of the best experiences I've had thus far since setting off to travel around the world for one year. Besides the obvious benefit of free accommodation, you will really get to know the local culture and the country. I left Guatape, Colombia with fond memories and to this day, is easily in my top 10 favourite travel destinations so far. Read more about it here: http://kendrickuy.com/2017/05/20/guatape-colombia/

Have you ever thought of visiting the Amazon Rainforest? Famous for being the biggest rainforest in the whole world and home to countless wildlife; if you're looking for adventure, this forest has plenty of it! During my time in Ecuador, the tour group I joined did a homestay with the local indigenous people living in the Amazon Rainforest. They guided us to hike through the dense jungle and climbed several waterfalls on the way. Afterwards, they showed us how chocolate is made from cocoa beans and then we slept in wooden cabins deep in the forest. I was a little bit uncomfortable with the thought of sleeping deep in the jungle but I survived and actually slept pretty well.
