Entrepreneurial Program For College Students • Educational Resources For Families

Established in 1855, Southwestern Advantage is the oldest entrepreneurial program in the world for university students. Our program has given hundreds of thousands of participants the opportunity to graduate debt-free with transferable personal and professional skills. Student Reps spend their summers building their businesses in a community away from home, visiting with families face-to-face, showing educational apps, websites, and books. Our products are designed by a national board of top educators and help with everything from the ABCs to the ACTs. Southwestern Advantage is a member of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, a BBB Middle TN award-winner for ethical commerce, and has been repeatedly named a Top Workplace by 'The Tennessean.'

The Southwestern Advantage learning system is a trusted industry-leading resource for students receiving any public, private, or homeschool education. Our apps, websites, and books are designed by a national board of top educators which include product partnerships with National Geographic, The Princeton Review, Dave Ramsey & Rachel Cruze, Homer - #1 Learn to Read Program, Southwestern Consulting, Cheryl Forberg, and more. Millions of families across the US & Canada have added Southwestern Advantage products to their home.

Products are only available in-person via Student Reps, as the primary purpose of Southwestern Advantage is to be an entrepreneurial and skill-development program for the university students that participate.

Now You Know: On this date in 1989, the Berlin Wall fell as East Germany, one of the last hard-line Communist countries, saw the disintegration of its Communist Party in the face of economic chaos and revelations of party corruption. The wall was a symbol of the Cold War; and by the end of the year, not only Germany had seen a revolution, but Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria had also disposed of their Communist governments.

Now You Know: The changing and falling of leaves occurs as the result of chemical changes. Chlorophyll nourishes plant life and gives leaves a green mask during growing seasons. In autumn, when daylight shortens, a layer of cork cells begins forming at the base of the leaf that blocks the production of chlorophyll. The green color fades, showing a truer color of the leaf before it finally loses its nourishment and falls to earth. This process allows plants and trees to store energy during the colder seasons when daylight is shorter.

Kids and trophies – what do you think? Do you feel that when everyone gets one they become meaningless, or is the point of children's athletics to teach values like teamwork, effort, and practice while having fun and exercising? Other views?
