Google Chrome cracking down on Toolbars even for users who still want them

This affects many Toolbar users, such as Yahoo Japan's toolbar: http://notice.yahoo.co.jp/toolbar/archives/20140708CHSA.html

Basically they say if you need the Yahoo Japan toolbar to use IE, Firefox, or Safari.
Those who've written Chrome toolbars or other multipurpose add-ons will have to take a new approach by June or see their software booted from Google's app store. And no new multipurpose extensions are allowed starting now.

interesting #longread on WhatsApp's server infrastructure

Good details of how WhatsApp got to over 2 million network connections per machine, impressive work:
"Optimization is dark grungy work suitable only for trolls and engineers.", I love it.

One amazing thing about Linux is that the same code base is used for a different range of computing systems, from supercomputers to very tiny embedded devices. If you stop for a second and think about...

Toasted BLT for Lunch. Great cafe! Soothing music and delicious food. The Lunch sets come with dessert and choice of coffee/tea/soup/juice.

Bacon is good, thick like Canadian bacon style. It may sound funny but the mayo they use really makes the sandwich, they mix their own flavor mayonnaise it's excellent.

Story
Introduction
LonelyBob is not my real name, actually my name isn't Bob either, my given name is Kevin. LonelyBob is a nick name I had in high school and have chosen to use it as my online handle for many years.

Child of the 80's, grew up on Long Island, NY; went to Plattsburgh University in upstate NY where I spent a few years fighting the cold winters; tinkering with various programming languages, GNU/Linux desktops and servers until I was given a Computer Science Degree; and falling in love with a hard working, intelligent woman from Japan.

In the Summer of 2004 I married my wife, after which we moved to Japan beginning our adventure together. Since leaving the US in Fall 2004 I've experienced some amazing, wonderful, and strange things in Japan as it has grown to become my home.

I enjoy listening to Podcasts (or Netcasts) especially TWiT and 70Decibels; playing the occational video game on my Wii, DS, or Playstation3; watching SciFi movies; and keeping up to date with the latest gadgets and web services.
