My husband and I are food/customer service critics and we dined there recently, The taller hostess with brown hair, seemed far more exercised in costumer service than the manager. Or any of the servers, and was a delight to observe when greeting other guests. the managers seemed rude, inflexible, and overwhelmed. He would help for about a minute, or boss the hostesses around and then disappear for awhile. The server smelled of B.O. and had food in her teeth. when one of the hostesses came over we questioned her about her job a bit. She said " I am new here but so far i love it " her smile seemed genuine. she seemed rushed but gracefully hid it well. Again we both decided we didn't appreciate our overall service here so that is why there is one star.

Love this place. They have successfully meshed a franchise with a "locally owned" type feel. However, the food is absolutely over priced. Tater tots should never cost $9 bucks. Almost $10 bucks for sweet potato fries? The tourists from out of town may not mind but as a local it is pretty annoying to pay such silly prices for bar food. Aside from all that it is still my go to place, I just wish they would come back down to earth with the prices. It's no Zydeco.

I've visited before for the abundance of what they offered and decided to stay here for the night. I'm impressed. You could spend 3 days here on this property alone and enjoy each day.

This review is about the hotel front desk / hot soak front desk. Normally all of the employees at mcmenamins are very nice, however, one in particular has no business being allowed to work there. His name is Brian and he's EXTREMELY RUDE. Brian needs to be fired asap. I've experienced his extreme rudeness several times and many different occasions and each time he's the same. He is nice to females however, as my wife will tell me stories of how nice he acts to females. He is the geekiest geek dork (and that's coming from a computer guy who builds websites for a living)... and he has something up his ass apparently... every day. Why is he working there? HOW is he working there? these are important eternal questions as this guy needs an entire brain change before he should be let out into society. If mcmenamins fires him, or lets me know he's simply no longer working there anymore (either by his choice or firing) by commenting on this review, then I will change the rating from 1 star to 5. FIRE BRIAN!!

I had an excellent stay at Mcmenamins. The hotel was fun and quirky; suiting for the Oregon lifestyle. Staff was friendly and the room decor was very unique. The only reason I gave 4-stars was the prices at the pub. I was shocked to see a $9 garden salad or $6 tots. For pub food, this is way too high to be acceptable.

Empty the night we went (snow storm), 5 of us, they tried to seat us at a booth for 4, saying we could stick a chair on the end - in the darkest corner of the restaurant? Huh? We said NO, we'd like that table for 5! I thought the prices were really high for the quality of food. I had the margarita pizza ($11?), maybe was worth $5. Decent it was, but to me an individual pizza for $11 better be FANTASTIC. Tasted the fish & chips, good portion, average food. Our server explained that during serving us, she had to take a break, so someone else would be by (he did, only to pour us more water). Strange place. Granted, snow storm night, but still...

Loved the food and atmosphere. My husband and I were in town for a couple days and this was place was suggested to us by a server at Diamond Lake. Glad we got to go. The service was excellent! If I'm in Bend again, We will definitely be coming back!

While in Bend recently, we walked over to this place since I had not seen the McMenamins Bend location. Nice appearance, lots of outside dining areas. Was thinking of having a beer but the list was typical Mcmenamins so not worth it. Talked with a couple of employees, very abrupt and impolite. My experiences with McMenamins in Portland lately has been lousy, so I tend to enjoy the art at these places and not patronize them.
