Google, this thing you made would be reeeally neat if you hadn't zoomed in on the pictures such that +Meg Swanton and +Kara Hurvitz are just torsos.
Just saying.

(xposted from the Facebooks)

Balfar's was wonderful! The weather behaved for once, the fighting was fun, and court was full of exciting events.
I've been excited to watch Elaina(Jeanne) be inducted into the Laurel for months, and everything about the vigil and elevation were amazing. She put so much thought and effort into the experience and every moment just cemented that this was well deserved.
I was unprepared for how much fun it was to hand out chocolate to the crowd as we processed in. It was great (And also appropriate to the vigil theme!)
I also finally got to show her the project I'm making for her (far from complete...) so I can make posts about it and stuff.

But of course, that's not all that happened. Eva (Naomi) was inducted into the Silver Rapier, which was very deserved. I've loved having her back at practice and on the field.

Sorcha (Minerva) and Tobias (David) were given court baronies for many years of quiet service. (And I managed to hold my tongue when Sorcha made a joke about being more Excellent than Malocchio not 10 minutes earlier.)

And most surprising to me (of course) was being recognized for my service - twice, even!
Dragonship has a really cool tradition for recognizing even the smallest contribution at an event, so I now have a purple fish for MoLing a very entertaining princess melee! And then later their majesties saw fit to induct me into the Silver Wheel (I was very confused when they called me in). Liadan (Lacey) gave me her beautiful medallion (and was suuuuuper smug about it! <3) and Nataliia made me a gorgeous scroll. Thanks to all the sneaks behind this one.

Crossposting from the facebooks:
It was King's & Queen's Rapier Championship. I was in China the entire week before and barely got back in time to get sleep before it was time to go.
And it was an absolutely AMAZING day.
I was in a good headspace without even having to try very hard at it. I did warmups and forms like last year, but then I was able to talk to people and enjoy socializing without losing any of my brain. It was great.
My pool had many skilled fighters, and everyone was courteous and clean. I fought well, and even though I didn't progress I was more than glad to watch the two people who did (Melchior and Sorcha) kick ass all the way to the final 6. I am especially proud of Sorcha, who had a morning that would have destroyed me and came out on top in an amazing way.
And of course there was Katsu who fought extremely well that day, and made it out of his pool in his second K&Q ever,
I also watched Donovan and Devillin in some amazing fights and I'm very proud of the new King's and Queen's champions.
And of course, that wasn't all. Then court happened. I watched two Handsome Boys - Finn and Isobel - get recognized with their AoAs for the many great things they bring to the SCA. Rodrigo and Katsu were recognized for their fencing with Silver Rapiers. Rhiannon and Raziya were given writs for the Order of Defense and the Order of the Laurel, respectively, and I am so so very happy for them.
Tola was inducted into the Order of the Laurel. I'm very sad that I didn't get to see her during her vigil, but honored that I was able to embroider her vigil book (pictures of that forthcoming...). She will be a great addition to the Order, I'm certain.
And then, of course, came the surprise. I was inducted in the Order of the Maunche, and I had no idea it was coming. Thank you to Thyra for an amazing scroll (I've always wanted one from you!) and to Kayleigh for a gorgeous painted pin and Ryan for sending touching words and Vitorio for making sure that the legacy medallion made it to me even though none of you could be there. All of this, and the acceptance of the Order, meant so much to me.
