With the ICAEW Technical Release – Accountants’ Reports on Commercial Property Service Charge Accounts becoming fully applicable in relation to the accounts ending 31 March 2015, David Barrass, Managing Director of Property Solutions has been discussing the issues around accounting practices for service charges with AccountingWeb, the UK’s largest online accountancy community.

News editor of AccountingWeb, Robert Lovell, reports on the ICAEW recommendations this week: “Service charge reports prepared by an accountant should now contain information on the accounting principles, accruals, sinking funds and deposits. Material misstatements should also be reported by the accountant.”
