Now that it's off the stands I'm posting Jon Regen's cover feature on me in last month's Keyboard Magazine. I remember reading the first issue when I was a teenager and it was called "Contemporary Keyboardist", with in-depth articles about all styles of music, advice columns, and pianist David Burge had a great column on modern classical music. Burge was on the faculty at Eastman and his column made me aware of the school where I ended up studying modern classical composition. They also wrote about vintage keyboards before they were called vintage and they cost as much as a car. http://ht.ly/J68TK

If you're in LA tomorrow (Monday) evening stop by Typhoon to hear me play piano with the Mike Price Big Band, two sets, 8 and 9:30. We're playing music from Strayhorn/Ellington Suites, Gil Evans/Miles collaborations, classic Basie and Thad Jones charts, and others. These pieces have a TON of great classic jazz piano, so I'll be working hard...help me celebrate mailing my ballot. I'm playing at Typhoon with my band on February 4th. Good food too. http://ht.ly/H9gwr

If you are in Santa Barbara tomorrow this will be a great concert for a worthy cause. Myself and my daily TV cohorts are backing some great artists (all guitarists, I know--but it is a guitar company sponsor!) such as Joe Bonamassa and Robben Ford, all to raise money to promote free access to music for youth. The Pacific is warm this year, so swimming will be good--make a weekend out of it. And there aint nothing wrong with Santa Barbara.

Keyboardist Leo Dombeki had a serious stroke last Saturday in Colorado Springs - I'm grateful to have gotten to know Leo's good friend guitarist @GinoMatteo and the rest of Sugaray Rayford's band on stage because I was able to jump in and play for Leo, but I wish it were under better circumstances. This gofundme site is raising money for his medical bills. I hear he is doing better, but all that time in the ICU costs $$. Thanks http://ht.ly/zpLiH
