As far as I am concerned, the vanilla game didn't look graphically that inferior to teh 2012 demo.  There were some missing effects and things, but overall I didn't feel gyped about it.  What annoyed me though was that the 2012 demo had like 2-3x the car density and had things like two people in one car (which never happens in game btw except for police cars and enemy cars) and more NPC interaction than the final game did.  That was what annoyed me.

So I read an article recently that proposed that eventually CoD's existing yearly release cycle will become less profitable, and that actually spiting the campaign and multiplayer was the way to go.  This article proposed that Activision releases a new CoD campaign every year, but staggers multiplayer releases to every two years or less.  And then, in the mean time, they just make more DLC to keep the game fresh.  Right now, CoD's biggest issue is that they can't keep the fans playing as long as they used to, and this might be the solution.

Krahu, there is no such thing as a new engine anymore.  New engine means overhauling an existing engine nowadays, and Ghosts definitely did exactly that.  They focused their overhaulding efforts on graphics and sound, and less on gameplay.

Here is my first impression of the game from my first 2 hours or so: the gameplay is fluid and frenetic - tons of fun with lots of great gameplay loops.  The world design and all the little details from how you get into a titan to how you can interact with the AI Grunts, etc is FANTASTIC: by far the most next-gen and most fun aspect of the game IMO.  The maps are good as well; I like all of them, though only a few so far have really stood out as great maps.  The weapons are all well-balanced it seems and, though more variety would be nice, I don't think it would really bolster the game in any significant way.  Now onto the mediocre/not so good things:

The graphics are good, but not really next-gen to me.  The levels are all well-designed, but the graphics, technically speaking, don't really serve to enhance the map design, just support it (as in they are bare-minimum for me for next-gen).  And finally, the campaign multiplayer is a hit-and-miss experience.  On one hand, having some "important" NPC brief you before dropping into a mission is pretty cool and some of the set-pieces are really good, but a real campaign has to be a bit more controlled for this genre.  Multiplayer "arena" games are simply too unscripted to properly support a campaign-style storyline, IMO, especially seeing as how I actually got kinda lost in the storyline halfway through.

Anyways, that is a pretty quick-and-dirty "review" I guess.  I played on PC and I would personally give the game a 9/10 from my experience so far.

Not going to get it because no one plays on PC.  I swear, why does Activision even try on PC anymore?  Each game has a smaller and smaller audience on PC since MW2.  Activision should realize that releasing a good game and not a shitty port on PC will actually make money.

The game looks very cool IMO, but I think you have too much faith in EA.  I won't be buying this day one, but I will buy it if the reviews are good, people like it, and the game isn't broken.  From that trailer, it sounds like a different game, but we have to wait and see.  I will probably get a little bit hyped, but I won't make any stupid decisions.

That said, personally, I would have released the MP section as a DLC for like $15 and the SP as a standalone title for $25-$30, but then again, I like breaking the traditional AAA model.

Oh and you are also placing too much emphasis on the engine.  In reality, games use the engine as the base for all the basic rendering, physics, core AI, etc functions.  Then developers overlay their vision on top which encompasses graphics assets, sound design, and GAMEPLAY.  Titanfall was made on Source for Christ's sake!  That same engine made Half Life 2, but Respawn added a different vision than Valve did.

MW3 failed because it had to be made with a brand new team (plus a fractured IW) in probably <12 months.  This is what happens when publishers screw their devs over to save a couple million (that they end up losing anyways).

Hey Krahu!  I just have two questions.  What do you think about stealth-action games?  And would you play a game that isn't a AAA shooter on this channel, sort of like how Totalbiscuit does his WTF Is... videos?

I am cautiously hyped.  I had a ton of fun in beta with like 7 hours of game time, but I am just waiting to see how the longevity works out.  And yes, I have pre-ordered the game.

I hadn't been to Eastwind in quite a while, but I finally went back. I was very glad to see that it was still an amazing restaurant. Definitely recommend to everyone. Any reviews saying it was bad have no idea what good Japanese food is. PS: the bento box is the way to go.
