One of my favorite parts of my trip to Beijing a few weeks ago was visiting the 798 Art Zone, Beijing's budding arts and culture district. The entire area used to be a factory complex, designed in a joint effort by the Chinese, Soviet Russians and East Germans in Bauhaus style. The buildings have a really unique shape, and some of them still retain their Maoist thoughts painted on the rafters. It was incredible to see what China's modern artists are doing, especially in such a starkly Communist place.
If you ever are fortunate enough to go to Beijing, definitely check it out.

And maybe more photos coming soon, of the actual art and not just the crazy cool architecture... :)
