The Capital Grille in Philadelphia is one of the finest restaurants in town. Their steaks are the best I have eaten in the city and their lobster macncheese is my sinful indulgence when I am not counting carbs. The wait staff is superb. It's my favorite place for celebrating anniversaries and birthdays.

it started out bad and never got better. When our party of 4 arrived 15 minutes late of our reservation, the cosigner said that we had to sit in the bar area. we were reuniting with old friends and wanted a more private setting than in the bar. she said that she would check with her manager and she said no seats available in the resturant side. well when walkiong to the Restroom as to my surprise there were MANY...Many tables available. next we were ordering and people kept bumping into or table. The steak was cold- my husband said that he has had better steak at Texas Roadhouse, my steak on the other hand was excellent. The prices are outrageoug for what you get. The old saying " YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR", DOESN'T STAND FOR THE CAPITYAL GRILLE.

I have eaten many times in several of the Capital Grille locations around the US and have until this week been a huge fan but the introduction of the ipad wine list does not make sense to me and has spoiled my view of the concept. Choosing wine is as individual as choosing food and I believe that casting your eyes down the wine list is part of the dining experience. Its not wonderful being served by an unknowledgeable server holding an ipad with wine drop down menus, who has to make their way around a table full of people who need to scramble for a wine from memory, rather than safely choosing something from a list in the comfort of their own space and time, before its "their turn"!!!!
