You probably all have seen at least one video/gif of a bicycle/motorbike stunt where someone rides up a ramp, and then while flying through the air does some incredible moves. Looks great, right?

Here is a different perspective, taken from the bike, showing that sometimes it's better not to let go...

Incredible Sand Sculptures That Put Our Childhoods To Shame

Well, maybe not everyone's, but certainly mine. I only wish I had the sorts of mad skills required to create the beauty you see here. My "art" was limited to building construction sites and using Tonka trucks for the destructive aftermath. It was all about building and destroying.

These sand sculptures are remarkably beautiful and they all have such an ephemeral quality. It's the nature of the beast. You know the ocean will soon erase all the dreams and aspirations contained within. The Sea is unforgiving; and the tides are a thing of precision: these #sandsculptures  were doomed before they ever began.

And maybe that's what makes them so damned compelling.

Kinesin protein walking on microtubule

Kinesin is a protein that moves things around the cell. That filament is a protein strand that gives the cell structure. That vesicle is a big blob full of cellular product that the cell wants to transport somewhere else. It is driven by ATP hydrolysis.

What's that in the sky? It's our researchers taking to the skies to capture data about the effects of jet biofuels on aircraft emissions and contrails. In this image, our DC-8 research aircraft, which had the job of burning the biofuel, leads one of the "sampling" chase aircraft across an early morning sky. The science instruments on the chase aircraft, as they were flown through the DC-8's wake, were able to record more data about how the emissions mixed with air.
