The American Bar Association just released a study on implicit bias that demonstrates that within the legal profession women still continue to face an uphill battle to get equal pay or enter into partnership and leadership positions. But the science behind the implicit bias is deeply flawed as this outstanding piece by Doctor Daniel Amen implies! To learn more about the Amen Clinics and how I incorporate brain health coaching in my leadership seminars for attorneys and professionals, check out www.debranorwood.com
Brain studies demonstrate that women lead in empathy, intuition, self-control, collaboration and appropriate worry. It is time for a paradigm shift!

In these difficult times when communication seeks to be waning among certain political spheres it behooves us to remember the basics: what are the core competencies in leadership and how can we nurture them? One glue that binds across all competencies is the ability to relate to others with some way to distance oneself from personalization and anger. For me, the use of therapeutic humor and laughter allows me to develop the ability to not only express empathy and compassion but expand my conflict resolution skills to embrace #humor4peace And a peacebuilding skills set is integral in today's world!

My thanks to the World Laughter Tour, The Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor, The Positive Psychology Association, The Anasazi Foundation, The J.Reuben Clark Legal Society , Dr. Earl Henslin and Amen Clinics for their role in molding my concept of what it means to be a rainbow in someone's cloud --professionally speaking. On a personal note, I thank my parents, my family and all my dearest friends who have led me to know and understand the meaning of #resilience You know who you are. I wear you forever in my heart. <3

Great article by friend and mentor, Steve Wilson. Humor in business can be a touchy thing, especially among the genders. Toxic humor, where people are laughing at, not with one another may promote friction, resentment, and even arise to the level of sexual harassment and a creation of a hostile work environment . Women and humor at work as an even more delicate matter as women strive to break glass ceiling in pay and recognition. A great think piece!

Love the fun acronym! Let's all be dumb together! Innovative thoughts that incorporate humor can be very effective! This acronym acknowledges that people judge these principles to be too simplistic--even naive, yet they are as powerful as life itself in making lasting changes in the human heart. If that's dumb--then let me be dumb and dumber! Lol! #humor4peace

Absolutely ruthless way to run a meeting, with a very specifically assigned person as DRI. Ruthless, but apparently effective. My question to all: how does this par up to the idea that so many global ventures fare better with a collaborative model and all the stakeholders invested in the outcome? Would love a discussion! My first impression is that he was creating a " master mind " group for innovation, but the vision to implement it had to be collectively claimed by all in the company to achieve success. Any thoughts?

A warm welcome home to young Chloe whom has heroically faced adversity with the help of faith , friends and family. Her situation triggers the thought: What is resilience and how can we as individuals develop the stamina to overcome adversity? The use of brain health, mindfulness and therapeutic humor and laughter is an approach I use to assist others in finding their inner strength.
