L'astuce du mois pour améliorer l'anglais de vos enfants.

Etiquetez les objets de la maison !

En voyant des mots en anglais collés sur votre réfrigérateur, un placard, votre ordinateur, un vase, un tableau, etc. cela ne crée pas seulement un espace pour l'anglais chez vous, c’est aussi un excellent moyen de construire et maintenir une connaissance du vocabulaire de base.
A VOS POST-IT !

Loïc is going to Cork, Ireland in 2 weeks so the topic of the lesson is "things to do in Cork". #1 Ring the Shandon Bells (you can choose your own tune!)

Teacher: If you had a chance to choose your own tune, what would it be?
Loïc: AC/DC's "Hells Bells"
Teacher: The priests and nuns will go berzerk!
Loïc: hahahaha

When topics are of interest to the learners, they recall vocabulary more. "Fuzzy glow", "naked eye", "rather" like islands.

To close the lesson:
Teacher: So you're interested in galaxies because of Star Wars. Do you think we'll ever reach that point?
Learner: Yes because we are curious and we like to discover.

Well said. Well said.

Capucine is 11 years old and is home-schooled. She is in the beginner level so her lessons in the last few months have been focused on building the basics: greetings, introductions, talking about oneself, simple present, personal pronouns, present continuous, vocabulary for everyday objects, etc.

Last week, when she was asked what food she loves, her eyes lit up like blazing fire and she said CARBONARA! It was an experiment to give her a lesson on this recipe but, boy, did it work!

To keep things simple, instead of introducing a lesson on the usual IMPERATIVES and SEQUENCING WORDS, this formula was introduced to her: VERB + NOUN. She came up with these in 15 minutes.

1. SALT the water
2. BOIL the the water
2. HEAT the olive oil
3. ADD the bacon
4. COOK slowly
5. ADD the garlic
5. COOK another minute
6. TURN off the gas
7. PUT bacon and garlic into bowl
8. BEAT the eggs
9. MIX IN half of the cheese

Bravo, Capucine!
