Parents bought a new printer/scanner after experiencing 2 years of multiple problems with their HP Deskjet.  I took the old boy home with me and, for the price of an ink cartridge, had it operating perfectly in minutes.  I believe this is what's called "The Long Con."

Look, I'm not going to pretend I've got votive candles lit in my window or anything, but an old friend of mine is in Temple tonight losing his battle with cancer.  If you're the praying type and have a moment, please give some thought to Dennis Martin and his wonderful wife, Jane.

And I found out last night I'll be in "Hate Mail" This August with Churchmouse Productions at the Bath House Cultural Center.  There's nowhere to link to at the moment, but trust me when I say this is a thing that is happening.

Photo Shoot for the Undermain Blog.  They wouldn't tell me what the picture was for; I gave them this.

For those of you on G+-- both of you.

Friday night, Sarah Box was in an automobile accident that has her in the N[eurology] ICU at the Medical Center of Plano. Her condition is stable. Scans have not detected major internal trauma. There are some broken bones in her hip and face, but nothing that involves surgery. There is a small collapsed section of lung, but she's been breathing on her own since having a breathing tube removed. She is responding to hospital staff, but is agitated and still hasn't regained total consciousness, which is probably going to be a while. For now, we have to be patient and wait for her to heal, which is excruciating but understandable.
The Boxes have lots of family support, as well as love from people who have offered your help so far. If you have any questions, or would like updates as they occur, please feel free to send me a text or message me here.  It's hard to say this because so many people are asking about how they can help, but right now all that's needed are the general good thoughts/prayers/sacrifices to Bofutu. Sarah needs peace, quiet and rest first and foremost. As soon as she gets cleared to move into a normal room, then you can start ordering the flowers and arranging visits. Until then, Jenny Stoneking has set up a GoFundMe link for Sarah's soon to be considerable expenses. If you want to send some ducats that way, it'll probably be the most I ask of you. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who's already said hello, and if you have any questions, ask.
So that Sarah can focus on her recovery and not stress so much, this fund has been set up to help her with a couple months of rent and transportation and to cover any other random expenses that may arise while she is healing.

"The Sunshine Boys" opens Friday night.  I've got a couple of comps for anyone interested- First come, first served.
CTD closes its season with the Neil Simon hit, The Sunshine Boys, directed by Michael Serrecchia. Al and Willie as "Lewis and Clark" were top-billed vaudevillians for over forty years. Now they aren't even speaking. When CBS requests them for a "History of Comedy" retrospective, ...

Funniest when I'm in some state of distress.
Introduction
I'm not the submarine captain.  Not the guy who writes for the Guardian, either.  I definitely don't write for the Times.  I live in America, where I get paid to stomp around on stages and change light bulbs.  The stomping and lightbulbs are more or less mutually exclusive activities.

Was only able to stay for one night, yet I had a great time. I would recommend staying during the week, as weekends are crammed with tourists. Reservations can be made online, and rates for a single occupancy are comparatively lower than a few of Hale House's neighbors. Be prepared for local taxes to add a little more to your total. The house is well-marked, located across the street from a well-kept park and within walking distance of shops and restaurants downtown. Tim, the proprietor, is friendly, knowledgeable about local history, and not bad in the kitchen. Fellow guests and I were served Black Cherry smoothies and breakfast casserole with equal aplomb. Interior is reminiscent of visiting an elderly relative where you feel afraid to touch anything. It's a place designed for grownups, but there are books, board games and candy for those feeling a bit restless. There are rooms of varying sizes- mine was obviously furnished for two, with a double bed and easy chairs. WiFi works well, but may get spotty during a storm. In-room television is not that large, but if you're in Jefferson, you're not there to watch TV. There is central heat and air, bolstered by a window unit and ceiling fan. I was using all the covers on a 70 degree night with only the fan going. The bath in my room was a little on the small side- I may have banged my head on the door frame a couple of times, but that was more due to my distraction- so you may want to ask about the layout if mobility is an issue. An antique dry sink in the hallway carries most any toiletries you may have missed, but bring your own phone charger. The nearest Radio Shack is in Marshall. I spent a lovely, low-key evening sleeping in the comfy double bed, and had a wonderful breakfast with a pleasant couple from Houston the next morning. Couldn't ask for much more at the price.

You'll gain ten pounds just from breathing. You will, however, be wise enough to not care.

UU's is an example of a restaurant having good enough food to excuse the "LOOK AT HOW MUCH FUN WE ARE" presentation. The order line can be inconvenient during the lunch rush, but catch them at an off hour and it's like getting the place to yourself. The sandwiches I've had so far are all in decent portions, and while they can be a little sloppy, and a little pricier than, say, Schlotzky's, you get what you pay for. Uncle Uber's doesn't need to try so hard to impress with framed celebrity caricatures and satellite radio. The Slow-Roasted Pork is memorable enough.
