Great shot of the eclipse by +QT Luong
I wanted to capture the May 20, 2012 solar eclipse as a landscape picture, not just a solar object. This meant that the sun would have to be low on the horizon. Lassen National Park was perfectly centered, but the eclipse happened in late afternoon, so I traveled to West Texas and settled for the National Park closest to the trajectory of the eclipse, Guadalupe Mountains, although it would mean missing the "ring of fire". Unfortunately, after scouting for an entire day, I found out that the configuration of the terrain East of the Park was such that I needed a relatively wide lens to include El Capitan and the sun. The image is faithful to what you'd see with your own eyes. This is a double exposure, but with the sun setting, it was possible to watch directly the sun with your naked eyes.
