From the landing stage, to the exit gate, it’s no accident that the travel corridor for a gnat visiting an orchid is strictly one-way.

The film is a deconstructionist approach to the biblical account. The inaccuracies are to me minor issues, compared with the humanistic thrust of the story - being human, not being godly, brings real hope for humanity. The Watchers were angels who were banished because of their kindness towards man. Cain was banished and the Watchers helped his descendants who later betrayed their kindness. But the Watchers regained their trust in humanity and helped Noah build the ark. These fallen angels found deliverance and shot up to heaven by protecting the ark from Tubal-Cain's destruction. The gnostic element is too obvious to be missed - fallen angels were fire trapped in earthly rock and when these rock monsters redeemed themselves by their own efforts their inner light rocketed up to heaven as fiery pillars

Religion on the other hand brought internal and interpersonal conflict. Cain's descendants were estranged from Seth's descendants. Cain’s descendants were barred from entering the ark though they rushed towards it for refuge. Noah was a troubled soul, torn between his loyalty to the Creator and his love for his family. Religion drove him to the extremes - even attempting to kill his twin granddaughters, and if he did so, he would be more villainous than Cain. Two of his sons - Ham and Shem sought to kill him before he approached the babies. Finally these innocent infants were saved not by divine intervention, by Noah's rediscovery of his humanity - he was filled with love for his progeny and dropped his dagger. After sparing his granddaughters he continued to be plagued with inner conflict because he felt he had failed his Creator. So he estranged himself from his family and drowned his sorrow with wine and became drunk and naked.

Ham was a victim of his circumstances & his father’s religion and resented his father. After seeing Noah’s nakedness, he wasn’t banished but chose to leave the family because he felt no sense of belonging. This is a contrast to the banishment of Adam and Cain, and the exclusion of the fallen human race from the ark. Also, a cryptic message that humanity need not subject itself to banishment – just walk out of religion and find your own happiness.

Meanwhile, Noah reconciled with his family by accepting their humanity and coming to terms with his own.

Is God a ‘moral monster’? How do we answer challenges of ‘atrocities’ in the Old Testament?

When God judges, He judges in righteousness and holiness. He is morally perfect and just, and I've heard all kinds of garbage accusing God of murder and other atrocities, it is laughable!!!
God will be justified in throwing unrepentant sinners into HELL!!
