Went there on a Sunday afternoon because I procrastinated too much for my regular "salon", which I was never super happy with anyways. Glad I did, because now I've got a new favorite place for a haircut. The price was fair, and the young man took much more care than most other places. Definitely my new barber shop.

This is the best haircut I've ever had. These guys are meticulous. I came in there about five minutes before closing time on a Friday evening. I fully expected to get the quick-n-dirty treatment. Instead, he spent at least half an hour cutting my hair! Scissors, thinning shears, clippers, the works! When he was all finished, he put hot lather near my sideburns and on the back of my neck and proceeded to shave me with a straight razor. While I don't consider this a crucial part of a haircut, skill with a straight razor is often a good indicator of a barber's prowess. (A barber's license requires mastery of the straight razor; whereas a cosmetologist's license does not. Barbers tend to be better at cutting men's hair.) Never before have I seen a barber pay so much attention to detail and get the geometry so perfect. I will definitely go here again. As of September 2011, a basic haircut is $14, which is quite cheap for Bethesda.

I too have seen Tran for several years. He is the best barber I've been too. I live in Clarksburg now, but will still make my way out to Bethesda to get a great cut. Highly recommended.

I just went there yesterday because I work in the area and needed a haircut for this weekend. I've sworn off of unisex salons and I try to go exclusively to independently owned, male barber shops. After reading the reviews online here, I thought I'd try out Tran's. I stopped in and Tran was busy with a customer, but he had a female stylist there. Now after so many disasters with women on my head and having such good luck lately with men, I'd sworn them off. But I needed the cut so I sat with her. And I'm glad I did, because she shattered my prejudices and cut a great head of hair. She really took her time, probably 20-30 minutes on only a trim. She used both scissors and clippers, even taking the time to straight-razor the back of my neck. The only drawback is my own preference, in that I like the male atmosphere of a good barber shop. But I can't at all take away from her ability, she really did a wonderful and meticulous job. The price was $14 + Tip, which is a few bucks more than where I live, but not bad at all for Bethesda. And really, for satisfaction, what's an extra couple of dollars. All in all, I highly recommend this place and will likely be going back.

I have been going to Tran for several years now. He cuts great hair and is growing a fan base. He takes the time to make sure your hair is how you want it - yet still manages to make sure no one waits long. He has other good barbers on hand too in case you are in a hurry and need an alternative. Tran's location next to the parking garage by Old Georgetown Grill makes his shop easily accessible. I highly recommend Tran's barber shop.

Tran gives an excellent haircut taking his time to give you exactly what you want. The actual shop is no frills and the cost for a cut is more than fair, which is precisely how I think a barbershop should be!
