From 22 October 2016 to 8 January 2017, the Art Museum RIGA BOURSE (6 Dome Square, Riga) in collaboration with the Art Exhibitions China offers its visitors an exhibition “The Silk Road. Ancient Chinese Art”.

The exhibition The Silk Road. Ancient Chinese Art displays around hundred artefacts starting from the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046–771 BC) until Ming Dynasty (1368–1644 AD) from a region from which the ancient Silk Road began and demonstrates the interaction between Eastern and Western cultures during this period.

In a few days from 13 February you will have a chance to explore artefacts from Australia and New Guinea in the exhibition "Aboriginal and Papuan Art".

The exhibition was arranged in cooperation with the Latvian Roerich Society and consists of four parts: The Roerich Family in Latvia, In St Petersburg: Fellow Students and Pupils, The Latvian Roerich Society and A Collection of Works by Nicholas and Svetoslav Roerich.

The name of Nicholas Roerich  (1874–1947), his creative  oeuvre  and social activism is famous throughout the whole world. His life at various stages was linked with several countries – with Russia, the USA, India and others. A particular place in the story of his life belongs to Latvia. The aim of this exhibition is to show the connection between a distinguished Russian artist and the country of his forefathers.

Communication Specialist Kristine Milere from the Art Museum Riga Bourse and Museum Educator Ma Yunjie from the Shanghai Museum are participating in the final round of the ASEMUS' Educational Exchange and Outreach Programme organised by Asia-Europe Museum Network. Both specialists will spend two weeks at each other’s museum from July 20 until September 15.
The aim of the visits is to Exchange, understand and gain knowledge about each other’s cultures, museum collections and strategies in audience engagement.
