Why Digital Teacher?

Ushering a new age in school education, the A.P. State government introduced a new syllabus for secondary classes, effective from the academic year 2014-15.

The current presentation of the subject is different from the way it was presented in the yester years in more than one way.

The simple dictum that “science is in doing” has been adopted in the present version of science textbooks.

The deductive approach of teaching science has been skillfully minimized for the content types where it is truly required.

The content has been developed keeping in mind the scientific methods of instruction, complementing the newly introduced syllabus of 10th standard.

As a much needed welcome change, the abstract ideas of mathematics are presented using real life examples in the new syllabus, along with their applications

The teaching approach of English language has become more scientific keeping in view the significance of communicational skills in present day and age.

Historical Perspective:

Communication, Science and Technology together in essence have played a seminal role in the advancement of human race in every conceivable way on this planet.
In present day and age, as communication and technology have forged into every domain of human life and work sphere, education is all consumed by the innumerable and innovative possibilities that information technology and human touch can offer through the use of computers.
This development in the field of education allowed educationists and academicians to finally think of changing the curriculum of school subjects and make them more relevant to the present day and age.

What  is Digital Teacher?

Code and Pixels is offering a new teaching aid to the instructors at school level.
The product is an apt tool for teaching subject at school level using educational technology.
It would drastically bring down the time and effort spent by teacher in preparing the content and present it to the learners in the classroom.
While the conventional visual assets of the content are two dimensional in nature and are mere models of reality, the technology based content assets of this product are next to reality.
There are several teaching aids/tools available in the market, further supported by the vast resources in the Internet. But, it is quite frustrating to spend the time and money on customizing the available resources as per the needs of the learner or the instructor.   This is where Digital Teacher proves the worth of its salt.

Features of the product:

The product presents a Unit Plan to the teachers which can either be adopted as it is or customized as per their needs in the planning stage of the instruction delivery.
A template of the Lesson Plan is provided to break the instructions of a unit at class-to-class level on the lines of the unit plan.
The pace of instruction delivery is placed in the hands of the teacher through the Overview section of the product which gives a bird’s eye view of the subject matter of a unit.
A typical unit is divided into Introduction, Instruction and Evaluation sections in the lines of standard teaching-learning process.
The content under Introduction section is divided into three sections, which help the teacher in recalling the previous knowledge, developing motivation and in proper announcement of the subject.
The content of the subject under Instruction section is divided into several types, namely, the “Concept Model/Activity”,“Law/Principle”,“Theory/Lab Activity”,“Derivation/Numerical Problems” and “Uses/Applications”, based on the nature of the science subject.
Concepts and processes presented using animation and procedures are shown using simulations requiring intervention through simple navigation system.
At the end of the syllabus coverage, important instructions are presented in a nutshell for the recapitulation of the learners in the Summary section.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

The content of the subject is divided into five elements, Namely, Facts, Mapping, Processes, Procedure, and Concept.
Facts are presented using smart arts, mapping skills are taught to the students using simulation. Animations are used to comprehend concepts, processes and procedures.
The students can assess the understanding of the subject by taking a mock unit test at the end of each unit.
A unit plan is provided for the instructors to plan the classes required to teach a unit.
Simple navigation features designed intuitively allow the student or the teacher a quick access to the content written in lucid language.

ENGLISH:

The curriculum is divided into four key elements, namely, Content, Communication, Cognition and Culture to gain deeper insight of nature of the subject.
The subject matter is covered under Content element using animations.
Vital language skills like listening, speaking, reading and writing are covered under Communication section using interesting activities.
The extent of learning by the learner is gauged under Cognition section.
The Culture section contains activities which showcase the areas of applicability of the unit’s content.
Several activities are presented in the product to enhance the communication skills of the student.

MATHS:

The introduction of a lesson is presented using animations based on daily life scenarios.
The concepts are presented using high resolution images.
Theorems are divided further into Given, Required to Prove, Construction, Proof and Conclusion sections.
Procedure of solving different types of problems from a lesson is presented in a step-by-step approach.
The applications of the lesson learnt in daily life and in industry are presented at the end of the lesson.
Enough number of problems are presented to the student for practicing on their own.
Summary of the lessons learned in a unit is presented at the end of the module, along with the formulae.

PHYSICAL SCIENCES :

The activities of the textbook are further divided into Activity, Observation and Learning sections to further aid the teacher to teach the concepts using scientific methods.
The working of the universe is complex and incomprehensible when considered as it is. Science tries to understand nature using models and expresses its understanding in the scientific language of mathematics.
The models are simplified substitutes of reality and help us in understanding complex systems in a step-by-step manner.
In this context, animations are used to present the models associated with a concept along with their uses and applications.
Theories of the subject are presented by specifying their components like Assumptions/Hypothesis, Scientific Explanation and Predictions.
The role of mathematics is stressed separately under the derivation section of mathematical expressions.
Lab activities of the textbook are presented in a step-by-step manner using simulation, where the intervention of the learner is called for, in the form of input to progress further.
Numerical problems help in applying the principles learnt in a unit to daily life scenarios.
The solutions of numerical problems are presented in sections through “Given”, “Things to Derive”, “Formula”, “Calculation” and “Result”.

BIOLOGY :

Facts of the subject are presented using Smart Art.
Theories are shown using illustration and animation.
The content of the theory is broken down into three subsections, namely, Hypothesis/Assumptions, Scientific Explanation and Learning.
Activities are presented in a step-by-step approach with three subsections, namely, Activity, Observation and Learning.
The concepts involving models are also presented using animation and illustration.
The Reference section in every module provides several website links, to learn and teach the subject further in an effective manner.
