If anyone here is targeting HTML5, I could use your help testing a feature improvement! :-)

maybe you can test it with http://www.browserstack.com/, not sure if the trial is enough.

Hey guys, Slashdot just posted an article about SDL finally reaching version 2.0. It doesn't seem to "support" all the platforms that OpenFL does, but if OpenFL still uses it somewhere (I think), how does this update impact OpenFL?
An anonymous reader writes "Simple DirectMedia Layer 2.0 has finally been released. The cross-platform multimedia layer used by hundreds of cross-platform games has seen its first major release in years. The SDL 2.0 release has many new features including GL3 and OpenGL ES rendering support, a new 2...

My OpenFL project has custom text boxes. So keyboard events are important to me. It's weird, then, that KeyboardEvents dispatched from the stage have no charCode in the HTML5 target.

I'm planning to deal with this by making a TextField, setting focus to it and listening for text input events instead of keyboard events. But shouldn't the KeyboardEvent charCodes be working for this target? Has anyone else tried anything like this?

My NME Stage3D project took about six days to bring to OpenFL's GL API and HTML5 target. Native works pretty well too, though it's missing GL.readPixels().

The source for the Stage3D and openFL.GL versions is on GitHub: if anyone wants to compare notes, let me know and I'll post the link. :)

https://github.com/Rezmason/Scourge currently contains the Flash NME project in the "master" branch and the OpenFL project in the "openfl" branch. I'll probably tag these revisions before moving on with the project.

Caltrains are weird double-deckers. I wonder how the conductors do their jobs. Maybe three of them walk through the car simultaneously.

PRO TIP: if you're targeting Flash and HTML, add some kind of distinct visual indicator to each one.

Why? Because Adobe Scout won't record any telemetry from your Flash game if you're running your HTML game by mistake. :-P

Last Friday I mentioned work I was doing on a general-purpose cross-platform 3D API for my side project.

I'm happy to report that I've added Stage3D support to the API, which completes the Flash/JS/Native trifecta as far as rendering is concerned.

I'm using some code that Ronan Sandford contributed to NME; he and I think it would be better to develop an OpenFL backend that supports Flash 3D than to maintain a library for people to use on top of OpenFL. If anyone has considered collaborating on something like that, here's a chance to pipe up. :-)

Finally, while 3D rendering is done, my native builds are still complicated by two missing features in openfl-native that I request– support for UTF-8 regular expressions, and an implementation for GL.readPixels() . I'll bring these up with Granick, but if anyone else knows their way around NDLLs, I'd be interested in hearing how we can add these features ourselves. :-D

I think we ought to start by planning the OpenGLView for Flash. I haven't run that past Ronan yet, whose efforts back in December strove to do the opposite.

They're both options. I'll poll the community to see how people are leaning.
