I got a chance to sneak in a little bike ride during my work travels. I parked at a truck stop in Sonora KY and rode USBR-76 to the Lincloln's Birthplace national landmark, round trip about 22 miles through rural Kentucky.
Wow! It's a beautiful, gently rolling part of Kentucky, a lot like being around home but with more trees. The "landmark" turned out to be a really nice park with a small museum, a huge monument and some period stuctures. Up the road were some more Lincoln highlights that I didn't get to see because of time, including a Lincoln Museum and something else I can't remember.
I think this was one of my best spur-of-the-moment trips ever!
