I snapped a few pictures yesterday during a break in our 35-mile bike ride. Bree is as radiant as ever! We were stopped in front of the Kane IL United Methodist church that was established in 1832. What a wonderful Christian legacy!

Mark-bin-biken! :-) This is from the park along the south end of Peoria, IL Rock Island Trail. After I crossed the tracks at Grant St. the "trail" got really crappy and dangerous... a little research showed me I turned the wrong way.....
Why yes, Virginia, that is a GPS on my trike....

Part of bicycling's fun is the people you meet. These photos are of an original train depot in Stonefort IL, which is now on the Tunnel Hill Bicycle Rail-Trail in Southern IL.
To the left you see Ms. Linda Blackmon, owner and proprietor of this depot-turned-museum. If I recount Ms. Blackmon's story correctly, this depot was originally built in the 1880s, in the decade after the train line went into service. She spent her entire life in Stonefort, and her grandfather actually worked on the construction of the railroad. She said her father purchased the depot in 1965 and used it as his hardware store for about 10 years. "My father had no idea what it would eventually turn into", Ms. Blackmon said.
The final train passed through here in the early 1990s, and it wasn't long after that it was converted into a rail-trail betweeen Karnak and Harrisburg, IL. Ms. Blackmon converted the depot into a museum of the town and the railroad's history.
Located on US-45 in Illinois, about 10 miles east of the I-24/I-57 junction, this is a must-see when driving or bicycling through the area.

A "quick pic" of the non-lottery variety! This photo is on the Natchez Trace Parkway, just a few miles from the north end in Nashville TN. Before this, um, vertically diverse tour I had an early dinner at the historic Loveless Cafe. I shouldn't have eaten so much, my belly was sloshing on the hills!
