Oceanfront resort with multiple water features, on-site restaurants & an 18-hole mini-golf course.- Google
"We were upgraded to a king size room and it was very nice."
"The "resort" was extremely outdated with rust and a mildew smell everywhere."

I've stayed several times, usually in September. For me, having two restaurants, a nice pier, plenty of pools, and never have to leave the grounds is great! One side is next to the State Park, nice and natural. The other side is all one could want from Myrtle Beach! A large open air mall within walking distance...for those that go to the beach to shop. Very pleasant staff, friendly atmosphere, and I love the breakfast buffet, big bang for the buck! :)

Semi-private beach with a state park on one end, very little development on the other, and a quarter mile of beach to enjoy. The kids loved the free putt-putt on property. Maybe not as nice as the big mini golf places but I wasn't going to spend $10+/person to play there. On property food is pretty good, and of course there's plenty more food and entertainment at Myrtle Beach. The room was spacious and clean with a full sized fridge and microwave. The hotel and staff was just brimming with old southern charm and hospitality. All the staff and most of the guests were happy to give a wave and say hi, and the folks at registration always had a smile on their faces. This was my first time here with my own family and now I know why my family came here year after year when I was a kid. Everything was absolutely marvelous. Oh, and one friend mentioned that being close to the airport drove him nuts. I could barely hear the planes over the ocean outside, and the rooms were pretty quiet so I couldn't really hear them inside either. Personally, the kids and I enjoyed watching them come in for a landing from the beach.

Springmaid was just ok. The staff was friendly. The breakfast which they charge extra for was horrible. Maybe because they are working out of a conference room instead of their actual kitchen and dining room while under construction. The eggs were hard, the gravy was watery and the sausage was undercooked. The worst part is the airport being just across the street. You hear airplanes going over every 15 minutes. It's so loud you will think they are going to crash into the hotel. I'm a heavy sleeper and it woke me up! Also, they charge an amenity fee of about $18 dollars a day...which I guess would not be too bad but almost everything is closed due to construction and off season. We will try somewhere else next time.

We thank you for responding and we are sorry that we fell short of your expectations with our breakfast. We are being renovated now and that has made some changes in our normal way of business and we have had a few challenges along the way. We do hope you will come back and see those changes as we become a DoubleTree. in 2016.

Our experience was ok. Though the room was clea, I was not fond of the bathroom set up (sink and mirror outside the bathroom) the room had a full refrigerator and a safe which was a definite plus. The downside was the breakup of the facility.... u had to walk to another building for service/registration, breakfast/restaurant was in yet another building...and finally though the view was beautiful from our oceanfront balcony, the walk to the beach was longer than most resorts we have stayed at.

Loved the location. The pier was awesome. The views were great. Nice staff. Enjoyed Barnacles near the pier. Good value for this resort. Stayed off season the 1st week of January.

The housekeeping was horrible, when me and my family arrived we found a pair of underwear behind the door in the bathroom. We also found trash behind the trash can under the sink. The resort is off to itself but there is a lot of planes flying over due to its close proximity to the airport. You could hear the planes good as they flew directly above the resort. The room was very cheap but that was the only good about it, I would not recommend.

We had a great time. Resort was well maintained, staff was very helpful, got an awesome deal on a room in October. We didn't eat on property, we went out to find fresh seafood in the area, so I am rating the room, service, other amenities. Loved having pier access, oceanfront view, full size fridge in room, warm indoor pool, putt putt golf included. I didn't mind the airplanes during the day, I like to watch them fly overhead, great view of them from the beach, it wasn't a problem at all. They do not fly at night, so it is quiet. Michelle checked us in late night upon arrival, and Trey checked us out upon departure. Both were very helpful and friendly. We are very happy with our stay, and I would caution anyone to not completely believe negative reviews, because I saw no mold, no bugs in the room, no bed bugs. In fact our room looked just like the picture of the room on their website. Maybe things were tough and they were short staffed the week of the hurricane, but when we were there the week after, it was wonderful. I say, give it a shot and make up your own mind. I know we will definitely stay there in the future.

We stayed a couple months ago. Quite impressed, could use a little updating but they've got an awesome pier right there. Pools were good too! Great time!
