This month's contribution to the Privateer Press painting forum's "A Tale of WarmaHordes 2014", Alexia and the Risen. I went for a look reminiscent of the army of the dead from Return of the King, and I think it came out all right.

Went to a small steamroller today. It was my second event ever, second time playing warmahordes ever (my commute schedule means that I'm basically never able to make it to casual warmahordes nights at local game shops, so I only ever get to play during occasional weekend events), and the first time I'd played at the 35 points level.

The event went well, in that I managed to play my matches without making any horrendous errors. I mean don't get me wrong, I lost badly, but I had fun doing it, which was the whole point, and I learned a lot. For example, it's kind of important to remember to activate Reinholdt before Siege if you want to, you know, actually get the benefit of having him in your army. Also, actually remembering that the Squire bumps up your control area by 2 inches is kind of key ;-)

I was also kind of surprised at the percentage of the armies that were painted versus not. I've got like 1/4 of my 35 point army painted (in the "it's got paint on it, and basically in all the right places and covering the whole model" sense of the word "painted"), and other than one guy with a fully painted army (he apparently bought it painted, is that common?) I was right in the middle of the road as far as the amount of my army that had paint on it. Is that common? I mean on one hand it comforts me that I'm not going to look lazy showing up with models covered with primer, but on the other hand it's nice to play against models that look like something other than primer and metal.

Anyway, a fun time. I'll have to find some time to get some more games in over the holidays, when I'll have some time off from work.

I'm planning on attending a 35pt steamroller event next weekend, and since this will literally be the first time I've played anything above 15pts I'd like some advice on my list.

Here's the current plan:

Siege (*5pts)
* Defender (9pts)
* Squire (2pts)
ATGM (6pts)
* ATGM Officer (2pts)
* * Hunter (6pts)
B13 (4pts)
eEiryss (3pts)
Journeyman (3pts)
* Charger (4pts)
Reinholdt (1pt)

Other available models include a magnetized heavy that could be either an Ironclad or a Cyclone, a Lancer, pEiryss, pStryker, pHaley and pCaine.

The event (well, both of them, there are two within driving distance, I still need to decide which to attend) allows 2 lists (but doesn't require them), but I'd prefer to just bring 1, because I'd like to minimize the total number of units I have to learn. My previous warmachine experience is pretty much battle box games + B13, so there's no way I'm avoiding using a lot of new models, but it'd be nice to not have to switch warcasters half way through, for example.

Any thoughts?
