"...all too often they only acquire an unthinking habit, and neglect the subtleties of an art both ancient and universal."
Regardless of how gentle it may be it's still not an art form I'll take up, but I can honestly say I have never been so intrigued by smoking.

Any budding philosophers out there? My philosophy section has more than doubled in size today.

Despite the snow, yesterday's event was a big success! We heard some wonderful stories - everything from fairy tales to fixed apologies.
There was delicious tea and homemade scones. Plus a few little goodies from the bookstore.
Now get writing, you've got one month to prepare for the next Wordy Wednesday!

Cliffside Village Books and Retirement Suites by the Lake are thrilled to present Wordy Wednesday! An open mic night for poetry, prose, and the spoken word. This is a great opportunity for the Bluffs community to share their love of stories and spoken word in front of a supportive audience.

Each reader will have a maximum of five minutes to share their work. All readers and listeners are welcome.

I had to do a bit of repair work in the shop, but everything is now back to how it should be.

I had four encyclopedia sets in the store, just sitting there not doing much of anything. So I took one set (the prettiest one) and made it into an awesome table. There is a metal pole that runs through the books and is bolted to the top and base. What do you think?

Our Christmas display this year is a simple book fireplace. I think it needs a stocking to complete the look though, I'll have to figure that part out later.
