Beta Release Notes  -

Hey there Beta testers!

I've just pushed out a new Beta release, 3.2.0. New features will include:

- Platform Numbers!
- (Nearly) Endless scrolling for train times on the main screen. If this works well then I'll add it to the search in a later release.
- Proximity notification will now continue to update each minute, so the 'train in X minutes' should remain accurate.

Due to a rather critical issue in the app right now I'd like to push this release out ASAP, so if you could test it as soon as it's available that would be fantastic.

Hi, I've been using your app for nearly 2 years now and its helped me get to class on time so thank you!! :)
But I dont know if it's only my phone but, all towards city train times are not showing anymore, no matter how many time I refresh the page remains empty. All the city stations show them but I cant find any from say, Noble park, huntingdale or dandenong...I tried to uninstall and reinstall it but no luck...I have a Samsung S4, if that information helps, maybe its just Samsung?

Hey guys,

I'm just pushing out Train Trapper 3.1.6 which is a very long overdue defect fix release.

Things will be returning to normal very soon and I'll be back to being able to dedicate more time to getting the changes in and making Train Trapper better!

Cheers!

Things do seem to be better in terms of it remembering my lines on the way home (before it kept resetting to all lines).

A very tiny update, 3.1.3, is now being processed by Google and will be available shortly.

This just tweaks the notification text for 'Proximity Train Alerts'  (also renamed) to include the upcoming train's destination.

Everyone has been pretty quiet and I haven't had any defects reported in the last release so I think I can finally call this an RTM build. I'll promote this one to Production tomorrow afternoon as long as no issues come up.

I've just pushed up a new Beta release, 3.0.12.

This version will see the death of the 'Home Lines' setting which is now simply implied based on user selections.

I've just started with a very simple approach, any explicit line selections you make are considered 'Favourites' and will be selected whenever you visit a station with that line available, otherwise all lines will be shown.

Another notable change is the removal of the 'Showing' text from the Lines drawer handle (at the bottom of the screen) be sure to let me know if this still looks OK, I feel like it might need a bit more tweaking.

Still a few items to complete before this release is ready to go public. I know there a re a few more settings I think could be removed but I'm a bit happier with where they are now.

I'll just make mention of a feature I'm looking forward to adding: I'd like to add some 'geofencing' around the stations you select as favourites. When you get close to a favourite station the app automatically looks up your next train and pops up a notification of how soon the train will arrive and perhaps any delays on the line. This feature might be tricky to implement effectively as I'm not sure what an effective size for the geofence will be so as you get an alert at an appropriate time as well as not receiving alerts too frequently when you don't want them. Would love to hear feedback on this one.

The new release should be available through the Play store in about 2 hours.

Cheers!

Uodate 3.0.7 is out, with support for the new station, 'Williams Landing'. You'll need to get this update to get the latest timetables as well.

Also included is a few fixes for minor defects including the service status information, which should all now appear correctly.

Great app. But today, 19/5/13, the app's search function isn't working properly. I need to travel this afternoon but when I enter the time, 14:00, I only get 3 results, all early in the morning. No help

Train Trapper 3.0.0 just went live on the Play Store!

A ton of fixes, new timetables and even new features available.

One of the key changes in this release is the new Sliding Menu which can be swiped in from the left hand side, or you can click on the Train Trapper icon in the top left hand corner.

3.1.3 is out in the wild!

The new release is now being downloaded by the public and so far things are looking smooth.

A big thanks to everyone here for helping test the release and giving it the extra polish it needs.

There will be a bit of a break in the Beta releases now as I need to divert my focus on another project. I will be keeping an eye out for feedback on this release and prioritising the features for the next release, so you can still post any feedback/ideas here and I'll still be actively reading and responding to them.

Cheers!

Since version 3 went in, it seems to always forget my favourite lines.. and reverts to 'all'.  ie.. I travel into the city with belgrave+lilydale selected.. which is fine.. but then when I'm on the way home, it still has my original station.. so I go into the list and tell it to search based on location.. which finds Southern Cross.. but then it selects all lines :(

The next Beta release has now been uploaded and will be ready for your updating pleasure shortly. This version is 3.1.1, I uploaded 3.1.0 but I realised I had time to squeeze in a little more.

In this release you'll find 'Proximity Notifications' which will tell you when your next train is if you approach any station marked as a favourite. This is currently set to a 300 meter alert which will no doubt need some tweaking. I gave it a brief test on 200 meters and found it might not be enough, but I'll need your feedback here. This could possibly be a user configurable distance but I would much rather keep things simple.

You'll also notice that I'm now using the official 'navigation drawer' (sliding menu) instead of the 3rd party library I was using before. While it looks a little different, the functionality is almost completely the same.

So the aim is to make sure this release is now stable and then push it out to the masses. I would love to be able to get it out before Monday next week so if you could possibly give it a thrashing over the weekend that would be awesome!

Enjoy!

I think it popped out once on me when I was on a station I usually change trains (and thus it was in my favourites). Will keep an eye on it!

Today I'm launching the Train Trapper Beta community. By joining this community you can enable early access to the Train Trapper Beta so you can get updates before everyone else, right through the Play Store.

This is only recommended for people who are willing to test potentially unstable app releases with the benefit of having early access to new features.

I've just uploaded the first Beta release which is just the start of a large shift in the underlying operation of the App. Less settings, more intelligent.

So what are you waiting for?

Apologies to everyone who donated $3 or $5 or purchased the Premium upgrade in the latest release. The app was not detecting your purchase and therefore not giving you the Premium upgrade!
I've just pushed out a new version which will correct the issue, you just have to re-visit the Premium screen in the app and you should be given the upgrade automatically.

Really sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully it's all smooth sailing from here.

Let me know if you like the widget and any thoughts you have on improving it.

Cheers!

I'm having problems with the widget as well, basically the station it lists is generally not the station I'm nearest at all, usually one from earlier in the day. The pull down on the widget doesn't seem to do anything either when you click on it, nor does the refresh button change the station.
