The October / Fall Caddis  (Dicosmoecus) hatch is beginning on many western rivers and the big trout are feasting on them.  The hatch can last as long as a month or more in some places.

Trout Fishing is picking up nicely this fall.  The big fish are feeding aggressively to stock up for winter.  October Caddis and big Grey/Brown Drakes are hatching.

Good numbers of Coho are coming upriver now and are entering the Santiam River system.  Most of the fish are below Stayton where you are allowed to keep them.  Fish caught upstream of Stayton are catch and release until Nov. 1.
