Decluttering
It's often said--and I believe--that decluttering frees up blockages, and allows the Universe to send you what you might truly need. I hope so. I feel I've been at an impasse lately with my writing. I need to clear whatever junk is in my head that is blocki...

In an attempt to mitigate disappointment and/or sticker shock during your visit to the Hamptons, here, culled from years of overheard comments from visitors (ours and otherwise) is the lowdown of what you need to know: Yes...

Celebrating the big (and little!) things!
One thing that makes owning a bed and breakfast so rewarding is having repeat guests, especially those who celebrate special occasions with us and allow us, in a tiny way, to share in the joy of their lives. Every so often...

Madame Alexander dolls...Hummel figurines...Lladro...Beanie Babies...Precious Moments... The take away is to collect something, if you must, only because you enjoy having it in your life. We can't count on any value to anyone other than ourselves. :)

A "new" Jackson Pollock orginal? Artists have long been attracted to the East End of Long Island, often citing the unique quality of the light, and as long as there have been artists, there have been those who follow them. Th...

I find I appreciate some--not all--abstract art the older I get. But I admit, this particular piece to me looks like the garage floor after a childrens' finger-painting party.

Big country, small world!
In the middle of vacation, a yummy little reminder of home. I was at a book club meeting last month in Laguna Beach when a fellow foodie here asked me if I'd heard of Babette's. No context given. "There's a well-known o...

You know how you see the commercials where 50 people are crawling over a car showroom, everyone is happy and everyone is buying a car? When have you EVER seen an actual dealership that looks like that? Guess what: Bill Kolb Subaru DOES look like that. There are what seems like hundreds of cars, new and used, on the lot, lots of very friendly, knowledgable, and NO PRESSURE salespeople on the floor--all dressed in matching golf shirts with their names on it, which is just another indication that this is a TEAM effort here. No wonder that this dealership has consistently won customer service and sales awards and is a leader on the whle East Coast. This is a no-haggle dealership, so you don't feel intimidated or ripped off. This is the second Outback we've bought from this dealership even though they are 125 miles from our home (and there are closer Subaru dealerships) because the price, the selection, and the customer service is that good. Special shout outs to Sam, who sheparded us through a purchase mostly handled by telephone and email...Paul, who provided solid advice and assistance in arranging financing...and Larry, who helped close the deal and provided a "welcome" to my new car. One hundred twenty-five miles, one way...in the rain...returning during rush hour...and I'd still go back. I recommend this dealership and all of its employees highly.
