Over the holidays I read Skippy Dies by Paul Murray. The back of the book says that it's a book about 14 year old boys at a boarding school, and when I first saw that I thought "No. Not For Me." But I went ahead anyway.

The book is only nominally about 14 year old boys at a boarding school. It is also about: the ways institutions fuck over individuals, the point of studying history and literature, the way we keep alive people we love who die. Of course, since it is also a book about 14 year old boys at a boarding school, there's plenty of sex, drugs, unrequited longing, and video games. It is excellent, and you should read it.
